Goodbye

CAROLINE POTTER
"Caz," I woke up and opened my eyes. "Caz, wake up." Max whispered. I sat up and looked around. "What's wrong?" I asked. He smiled at me. "He's back," he said. I froze. Then I nodded. "Are you ok? You don't have to see him," he said. "No- I- I want to. I need to. I'm just- I'm nervous." I said. He nodded. "It's ok. Theo and Draco are in the common room waiting. Should I get them?" he asked. I exhaled a shaky breath. "Yes," I said. He nodded. "I'll send Draco up and you can use the room," he said. I hugged him. "Thank you, Max." I said. He nodded. "If you need anything or you want him to go, I'll be in the common room." He said. I nodded.

DRACO MALFOY
Theo and I sat in the Hufflepuff common room and I stared at the floor. There's no choice, no option, nothing I can do. I lost. "Mate," Theo said. I looked at him. "Will you be alright?" he asked. Theo was the only one who knew. He was the only one who knew the truth. "No, and neither will she." I said. "You don't have to do this. We can hide it. I'll help you." he said. I shook my head. "This is going to destroy me, Theo. I won't let it destroy her too." I said. He just nodded. Then Max came down the stairs with a smile. "You can go up," he said. I just nodded. Then I walked up the stairs. I dreaded every step. My heart sank into my stomach as I knocked on the door. Goodbye Caroline, I love you.

CAROLINE POTTER
I heard the knock on the door and I practically leapt up. I ran to the door and opened it. Draco stood there in a black suit. He had dark circles under his eyes and a sad look. "Draco," I exclaimed. I hugged him but he pulled my arms away. "No," he said quietly. I stepped back and looked at him. "What's wrong?" I asked. He was quiet. "I'm sorry I asked you to leave. I needed time but-" I started. "Caroline," he said, cutting me off. He didn't call me Line. He shut the door and I stepped back again. "Draco, what's going on? Are you angry at me?" I asked. He shook his head. "Please, just talk to me. Is your mother ok?" I asked. "She's fine," he said. I looked at him and reached for his face. He grabbed my wrist in mid air and held it. He stared into my eyes and tears pricked at the corners of his. "Draco-" I started. "Don't. Don't say my name." he said. I went silent. "I don't love you anymore, Caroline," he said. I froze. My heart stopped and my stomach lurched. "What are you talking about?" I asked. "I don't love you." he said. "Is your father making you do this because-" I started. "My father is in Azkaban!" he yelled. I flinched and pulled away. "I- I don't understand. What happened? Did I do something? Did you do something?" I said. My breath was shaky and my hands trembled. "I just don't love you. I'm sorry." he said. Then he turned to leave. I grabbed his arm and pulled him back. "Are you mad? You think you're just going to walk out?" I exclaimed. He shrugged. "I don't love you, I'm sorry?" I mocked. He stared at me. "No. Do better. If you are going to try and walk out of my life you need to do a hell of a lot better than that!" I yelled. "What else do you want?" he said. I looked at him in shock. "Listen, you were fun for a while but not anymore. You got boring." he said. I shook my head. "I don't believe you." I said. He scoffed. "No, something isn't adding up. You love me and I love you. You're lying and I want to know why." I said. His face fell and his eyes went dark.

DRACO MALFOY
I didn't want to do this and I didn't want to do it like this. She knows I'm lying. I have to hurt her.
I scoffed. "Ok, you want the truth?" I snapped. She nodded. "Maybe it is that you got boring, or maybe I came to the realization that I didn't want a used up whore!" I yelled. Her eyes filled with tears. "Draco, please-" she started. "No! You know what it is. Maybe I figured out that everyone that gets close to you dies and I don't want to be next! Huh? Did you think of that?" I yelled. "Stop!" she said. "Think about it, first mommy and daddy died the second you were born-" I started. "Stop-" she said. "Then Cedric is next-" I began. "Stop!" she said, even louder than before. "And now your Godfather, dear old Sirius, gets killed right in front of you!" I said. "Stop!" she yelled. "It's not a coincidence, Caroline. Loving you is a death sentence. And considering you are a slut, it's not worth it... not at all." I spat. "Stop!" she screamed. I stared at her as tears streamed down her face. "I loved you," she said between sobs. "You shouldn't have," I said. I left her crying on the floor and shut the door.
