"Forget what hurt you in the past, but don't forget what it taught you."
That was what she learned before saying goodbye.
Her eyes shot up with shock as a sharp ring ruptured her eardrums. She quickly awakened from her state of sleep, sitting up as she breathed heavily. The sudden sound was scary enough, but she was more focused on what happened beforehand.
Moments before, she heard tires screeching in the distance. Then there was that sudden crash, followed by glass shattering, explosions, and fire...? There was no mistaking it, she was dead.
She held her head in confusion as she began to remember what happened. But to no avail, it throbbed in pain. Forcing her to lose track of what she was trying to remember. Fortunately, she remembered fragments about what happened. She was on her way to the airport when a truck suddenly crashed into her.
But it felt like a dream. The girl wasn't sure what to believe. So to take her mind off of things, she checked her surroundings. The area she woke up was an open field of grass. There was nothing else in sight, just planes of grass as far as the eye can see.
"Was this heaven?"
But as she thought about it more, the girl couldn't help but shake her head in disagreement. There was nothing good about her that gave a reason why she was in heaven. She thought that she didn't deserve to be in such a place.
Rays of sunshine shone through the gaps of the clouds as the wind blew gently against her dark brown hair. She was never one for peaceful places, but this felt familiar. As if she's been here before. But despite that feeling, the girl rarely went outside of her house. She was on her way to go to Japan, but the crash killed her.
With an annoyed sigh, she wondered if this was another stroke of bad luck.
"My name..." She mumbled, "What was my name again? If I remember correctly...""..."
"Yeah. It was Ruele." Ruele sighed.
Thud!Ruele fell backward as her body hit the ground. The soft blades of grass tickled her face, but she paid no mind to it. She spread her arms and legs out in a starfish position, looking up to the sky as she took a few deep breaths.
Death is an event that happens to all humans, deeming it unavoidable. Even she was no exception to this rule. Then again, it was better than dying old and alone. Paying for medical bills just to slow down an inevitable death.
Too frustrated to even look at the bright sky, she covered her eyes with her arm.
In that same position, Ruele was oblivious to how much time had passed. She lay in the grass for what felt like hours, thinking about her past. Well, at least the somewhat decent parts before her death.
Ruele worked a not-so-fun job as a manga artist. The manga she wrote received thousands of fans. But she still felt incomplete. Ruele was grateful for all of her fans and was willing to do her best. But as her pen met the screen, all she could do was stare blankly at the white screen.
Compared to Ruele, the main character was her polar opposite. A kind person, a lovable one, friendly, and naïve. But as the story progresses, she eventually views the world in a new light. Her experiences had shaped her and forever changed her innocent view of the world.Yet more than anything, Ruele had especially hated the parts of the manga where she saw herself.
Eventually, all of her pent-up hatred for her manga caused her to take a temporary break. It affected her work tremendously and stopped her thought process. Which ultimately got in the way of writing the story. And that was when she decided to take a trip to Japan. But just as mentioned, she already died in the crash.
"Haaah...Am I doomed to stay here for all eternity? This is boring. Whoever put me here is killing me slowly." Ruele sighed in her head.
Being someone who gets easily bored, this is a very slow death. She was already bored enough back on Earth, but waiting around in a field of nothing but grass? This is boring. Much more boring than Earth. Standing up from the ground, Ruele sighed as she heard someone approach her from behind.
"As expected of my best friend. Even I would give up." A voice chuckled from behind.
"Loki..." She mumbled. "Thank god you're here. This place is boring."
"Ha! Tell me something I don't know!" He laughed.
Loki, a being titled the God of Shadows from a world named Teyvat. Also known as her best friend. He's rude and sarcastic to others, but Ruele was the exception. He has long black hair with small white streaks in it, ruby-red eyes, and a tall yet muscular build.
