Quite some time has passed since Rera had last seen Ningguang. Her last letter described how busy she was with her business and how successful it was becoming. Mora was rolling in and her customers grew by the week. No longer was she that poor merchant girl, she was now a true businesswoman.
Intelligence, influence, commerce, communication. Ningguang's work has allowed her access to such things. Perhaps that was how she knew that Rera was coming to Liyue Harbor. Maybe that was why Ningguang and Shenhe were glaring daggers at each other.
Standing in the middle of a street, the air was a mix of sharpness and tension, but it also had a strange chill, causing others to shiver and walk away. These two have not seen each other for months, the only time they do is when Rera is around.
Ningguang grew significantly as did Shenhe, reminding Rera that she was still physically a child. However, she couldn't lie that they looked more beautiful than before.
"Rera, long time no see. How have you been?" Ningguang greeted.
"I've been great! I finished sparring with Shenhe yesterday and it was so much fun!" Rera smiled.
"Oh is that so? Well, it's been a while Shenhe. Tell me, how is it being in Minlin? I heard that one could lose their life there if not careful enough."
"It's tolerable. Once you get used to killing monsters and finding their weaknesses, it's easier to get rid of them. How is it being cautious all of the time with your business partners?"
"My, I'm impressed that you know that word." Ningguang smiled.
"Knowledge is a great asset, maybe you should go elsewhere and use it. Rera and I don't want to waste your precious time." Shenhe spoke with a straight face.
"Ah, Rera would never waste my time. But I do worry about you. The Adepti have quite a lot of time. It would be a shame to miss out on one day of their guidance, don't you think?"
"...Can you both just get along?" Rera sighed, "No one even wants to walk our way."
"That reminds me, Rera, would you like to visit my shop?"
"Woah! A shop?! Really?! You opened one?!" Rera asked excitedly.
"Of course. I still trade in the harbor from time to time, but many of my customers stop by my shop as well. I think you would like our products."
"Shenhe, let's go see!"
"...Fine." She reluctantly answered.
Arriving at the shop, Rera marveled at the sight. Inside, some antiques lined the shelves, and jewelry glimmered through the glass cases. It was as if the shop itself sparkled with how clean and elegant it was.
"Woah...! Your business got this big?!" Rera exclaimed, looking around.
"I have invested in many deals and contracts with other companies. The Mora came together and I had quite a lot left over. So, I decided to open something that would catch the eye of my more refined customers."
"A bunch of rocks and some old trinkets? What a waste." Shenhe scoffed, looking at the glass display.
"Perhaps if you were knowledgeable about gemstones and their value, then you might understand."
"And yet all of the manufacturing and production turns the land and air filthy. How valuable."
"Oh my, so you do know something."
"When you spend much time with the land, you can see how human greed can affect the environment."
"Shenhe! Look, this one is super shiny!" Rera smiled, trying to stop the conversation from getting worse.
