Long ago, shortly after the events of the Cataclysm, people all around Teyvat have gone missing. Families, relatives, friends, partners, colleagues, and all sorts of people have gone missing. Never to be heard from or seen again. Even the most intelligent and skilled detectives couldn't find the missing people. It was as if they vanished off the face of the world.

The cases would rise with little to no evidence being found. Many kinds of magic and science were used to discover the traces, but all were useless. Eventually, the numbers would rise. Each year, hundreds- if not, thousands would go missing. Bringing grief and pain to those affected by these disappearances.

It is unknown where these missing people end up. Some say they go on an adventure and never return. Some say that they moved to other Nations in hopes of a better life. Some say they died and ascended to Celestia. These are but of course mere speculations, but what do you think?

"..."

"I think they're being delusional." Rera sighed, "As a survivor myself, there is no such thing as ascending to Celestia or going on an adventure. It's just torture and suffering. Most of the time, death."

"Haha! I know! Humans are such paranoid dogs!" A cheerful voice laughed.

"You used to be human yourself, well, part of a human. Right? Ruele?"

Anger rose within Ruele's wide eyes as her expression remained blank.

"...The other person wanted to be human, but you and your selfish decisions led to you becoming half of what she wanted. In the end, you chose to become a being with an extended lifespan. Something she didn't want cuz she wanted to die."

"..."

"Isn't it my life now?" Rera questioned, "That kid gave her body to me and allowed me to live as her."

"But that's the thing, you're living as her. Remember what she was like when ya first met?"

"She asked me to kill her, but I haven't gotten this reaction-"

"Oh come on!" Ruele groaned, "It doesn't take a genius to figure it out! Ya haven't gotten this reaction because Zhongli and the rest haven't said a damn thing about it!"

"What...?"

"They know about the ritual shit. The abuse and torture you went through would've made you wish you were dead. They forbade themselves to talk about the ritual stuff near you. Since, y'know...you were unstable at the time."

"And if they did...then I would've snapped just like I did at Rinea..."

"Bleh, so corny...but that's the gist of it."

"..."

"There's a part of the kid that wants to die. You may not feel it, but it's there." Ruele yawned.

"When will I stop feeling her emotions?"

"...How the hell am I supposed to know?"

"Since you're soooo~ smart, I thought that you could answer such a simple question."

"..."

"Maybe when you're older or some shit, I don't know. When ya get a grasp on your Adeptal Energy or whatever? When you become an actual Adeptus???"

"Wait, I can become a true Adeptus?"

"Ehhh...it's possible."

"How?"

"Ask Zhongli, he's the expert."

"Then why make an assumption you know nothing about?"

"Dunno. False hope?"
