After the picnic with the Roseweiss, Rera went back to Zhongli's house to rest. He was glad to hear that she got along with them, yet not so glad to hear that she sparred with them and nearly got hurt.
The next day was the continuation of her training with Xiao. Almost as if it were a school day, Zhongli came into her room and woke her up.
"Rera, time to get up." He spoke softly, gently shaking her.
"Five more minutes..." She mumbled.
"You must get up soon otherwise Xiao will make your lessons hard on purpose."
"Ugh...."
Slowly getting out of bed, Rera yawned and rubbed her eyes. Zhongli had already walked out of the room and Rera got ready. Her eyes were still blurry so she rubbed them once more. But with each rub, the urge to keep them shut and lay down was becoming difficult.
Snap!
In an instant, Rera was changed out of her pajamas and into clothes suited for training. Her urge to sleep disappeared and her eyes were no longer blurry. She looked to her left and saw Loki standing a few feet away.
"Morning my lady."
"Morning...thanks for the help." She yawned, "Glad to see you're back."
"Eh, just had some business to deal with."
"..."
"I'm sorry I couldn't save you in time." Loki sighed, "I tried everything in my power. I even used Time Reversal to where you-"
"It's okay. I'm fine now, I'm still here."
"...Are you sure? Zhongli told me everything, at least...as much as he could."
"I'm alright. I'll go eat breakfast now, I'll talk to you later."
Loki stood in place as he watched Rera leave the room. He felt weak for not being able to save her in time. He was always there for her, she would call him and he would appear without fail, so why? Why couldn't he find her?
His mind was thrown into a whirlpool of questions, he bit his thumb and thought about what he could've done differently. He couldn't believe that he had lost to someone who manipulated his senses. He had faced similar foes in his past yet none were able to faze him, so why this one?
"Ugh...I can't keep getting stuck on this. My lady has already moved on, I need to drop it."
It was something that he was curious about, but it had nothing to do with right now. Shaking his head, he waved his hand as a Shadow Screen appeared before him.
Like a status window in video games, he checked Rera's. He wanted to see if there were any changes to her, even if it was growing a little taller. Glancing at the Adeptal Energy, his eyes widened.
"Did the number...decrease...? Woah woah woah! After two years, Rera got a total of forty-seven percent! Along with the monsters she fought...that added up to fifty-nine! So how did it fall down to thirty-seven again?!"
It didn't make sense. From what Zhongli told him, none of the children Rera was with were fused with Adeptal Energy. It was only Rera with that counterpart. Whatever the case, this was a matter that Loki had to discuss with Xiao and Zhongli. Perhaps even the other Adepti.
"Loki?"
"Ah! My lady, you scared me." Loki awkwardly laughed, closing the Shadow Screen.
"Oh, I just wanted to let you know that I have to go to the training realm now."
