As Rera wrote in her journal, her other hand waved slowly as she played with Electro Energy. The element crackled in her fingertips and flashed purple. It was hard to believe that she was so terrified of it in the past.
Three years had passed and Rera had turned ten. She has improved in many ways, most notably her education and training. Her Adventurer Rank has remained at a D, but she has been stacking up her completed quests so she can take the SSS Rank Ascension Trial one day.
Her bonds with her family and friends have grown significantly stronger than before. Perhaps agreeing to be adopted into the Roseweiss Duchy wasn't a bad idea after all.
Knock knock!
"My lady, you have guests." Erith's voice echoed behind the door.
"Just a moment!"
Rera closed her journal and placed it in her desk drawer. She checked her appearance and nodded in satisfaction. Walking to the door, Rera opened it and closed it behind her.
"Who are the guests?"
"Alice." Erith sighed.
"You don't seem excited..."
"Not at all. That woman is troublesome. But it's entertaining...I suppose."
"I haven't seen her in two years...I wonder if she's doing okay..."
"...You'd be surprised."
"But you said "guests". Who are the others?"
"...I do not know. She simply came here with them."
"Well, mother and father aren't here right now."
"I'm sure she won't be here long. That woman comes and goes like the wind."
"You can say that again..."
The two walked into the foyer and saw Alice. Upon seeing Rera, Alice smiled warmly at her. She was holding something in her arms and someone else stood next to her. Rera couldn't see their face as their back was facing her.
"Ah! Rera! How lovely to see you again! How long has it been? A year? Or maybe two?" Alice smiled.
"Nice to see you as well, Miss Alice." Rera nodded.
"Mmm...to think that you would choose the Roseweiss over me...it saddens my heart..."
"Well, you're not really around."
"True true. But it's been so long! You've certainly grown!"
"Would you like to come to the living room for some tea?"
"Ah, no it's quite alright. I'm just here to say hello...and possibly something else..."
"Aaaannndd...I knew it."
"I don't recall if I have told you, but I have a child now!"
"..."
A look of shock and surprise came over Rera as she stared at what Alice was holding. It was not an item or a gift, but a child. Alice gently lowered the blanket and revealed her child.
"This is my daughter, Klee. Klee, say hi to Rera!" Alice chuckled, kneeling as she allowed Rera to take a closer look.
Rera stepped forward and looked at Klee. The small infant was cooing happily upon seeing Rera. Although Rera disliked children, she reached out and gently touched her head. Klee giggled happily in response and grabbed her finger.
"She's so cute..." Rera smiled.
"Isn't she?! Oh, I knew you would understand!"
"Congratulations."
