"You know, at some point we're gonna need to talk about New York." I said, sitting on a stool In the kitchen, next to Jimin.
"We have talked about it." Jimin said, chewing on his steak.
I put my glass of wine down, "You forbidding it is not us talking about it."
"If you want to go to New York, don't go with Hyde." Jimin said, reaching for his glass of wine, "Let me take you-- I have a place there." He lifted his glass and took a sip out of it.
I chuckled, "Of course you do. This isn't some sort of vacation. It's a work trip with my boss, who I would like to impress."
Jimin's jaw tightened and he put his fork down, "You know he's had three assistants In the last 18 months, all of whom quit without notice?"
I shook my head, "You don't think I can handle him?"
Jimin scoffed, "That's not it." He began stabbing at his steak and taking a bite out of it.
"That's what it feels like." I watched him put his fork down and sighed, "Y/N, I know full well that you can handle anything. And, uh, if you really want to go then... I can't stop you. But I'd like to take you there myself."
I softly chewed at my steak that was in my mouth, "Okay."
Jimin chuckled, "Okay?"
I nodded, "Yeah. I...I mean, of course I would rather see New York with you."
Jimin smiled, "Good. I hate it when we fight." Jimin said as he picked up his fork to get another bite of his steak.
I laughed softly, "That wasn't a fight. That was a conversation. It was, you know, when somebody talks and the other person listens and you resolve an issue."
Jimin nodded as he smiled, "That's how it works."
"It's crazy, isn't it?" I teased as I drank my wine.
It was another day back at work. It was the end of my shift and I was putting my laptop in my bag.
"Good night, Ana." Hannah said as she left her desk with her things.
"Good night, Hannah." I said, putting down my bag on my desk. My phone buzzed. I picked it up to see that it was Jimin.
"Outside with Taehyung. Dinner?"
"Love to. Two minutes."
I put my phone down and checked my desk to make sure I wasn't forgetting anything.
"You leaving?"
I turned around to see Jack standing in his office doorway.
"Um, I was actually just about to come talk to you, uh about New York." I said. Oh gosh. He won't be mad will he? I hope this won't affect my work.
He smiled, "There a problem?"
"Um...I'm so grateful for the opportunity, Jack but with such a short notice, I made plans that I can't change." I played with my fingers as I watched him turn around.
"Huh..." He said, as if he was shocked and walking into his office.
"But...I will have my phone on me all weekend, so if you need anything. I'm available." I said following him.
Jack sighs as he throws papers on his desk, "Y/N, have a seat."
I clear my throat and quickly sat down, "I'm really... I'm sorry."
"I think you have tremendous potential here." Jack says, leaning on his desk Infront of me. "But I don't want to waste my time training someone who doesn't take this position seriously."
I shook my head, "I do. Um...this is my dream job."
"Well, then shouldn't going to New York and the book expo be apart of that dream?" Jack asked, squinting his eyes.
"It is." I began to stammer, "It is. Um, uh it was just a misunderstanding. It won't happen again."
"Because there are plenty of qualified people who would kill for this job. I mean, look, I don't want to brag, but I'm a pretty great teacher." Jack said with all the confidence in his body.
I smiled awkwardly, trying not to smile at the cringe, "I'm sure you are."
"I'm just not seeing the initiative on your side of it" Jack said, squinting more.
I scoffed as I looked over, "I've read more than you've asked me to." Jack unsettlingly smiled, "And I... I- I'm on top of every..."
Jack stood up quickly, "I'm talking about going the extra mile." He walked to the door, "Unless you want me to compete with Jimin Park..." Jack slammed the door shut. I stayed facing the other way once I jumped, "for your attention." Jack added.
I could feel my throat tighten as if I was about to cry, "I'm...I apologize that...Jimin was so curt with you the other night. Is that what this is about?"
I moved my head to see what Jack was doing. He began to walk towards me, "Your boyfriend...has a reputation for being...a little ruthless." Jack leaned over and placed his hands on the chair I was sitting in. I quickly looked the other way and I felt my whole body tense, "Is that what you like?" Jack asked.
I stood up from my chair and stood my ground as I turned to face Jack, "If you have a problem with my work, then you should take it up with HR."
Jack smiled big, "Whoa. Why are being so serious? Wh-What do you think I'm gonna do, make you fuck me?"
What? Why would he say that. That is so...no. He's my boss, why would he ask me that??
"Jack." I tensed up and blinked quickly, I couldn't believe this. I walked towards the door but Jack placed his hands on the door, trapping me between him and the door. "I just... I just think...if you're going to fuck your way to prominence, that you should do it with someone who can at least make you smarter. Not just richer. Right?" Jack placed his hand on my face and I quickly turned me head, "Don't..." I started to shake and my heart started to pound fast. I couldn't breath. I wanted out of here. Jimin....
"Don't what? Hmm?" Jack put his finger on my chin so I could face him, "Now, this is a serious...serious question. Do you want to be kept...or taken seriously? Hmm?
I pushed Jack but he stayed in place, "I would like to leave, please, Jack."
"Plus..." Jack got closer, pushing his body on mine. He moved his face close to mine and I could feel his breath on my ear, "I can make you cum..." He breathed onto my ear as I tried to turn, "like nobody else has. Not him. Not anyone."
"No!" I grabbed his finger and bent it back, leaving a loud crack that echoed In the room and then I kneed him in his crotch as I pushed him down on the ground. I quickly opened the door and ran out of the room with Jacks groaning In pain behind me.
I ran out of the building door, looking for Jimin. I turned around and ran into Jimin as he held me."Y/N? Y/N, what happened?" He looked so worried. He held me so tight. I turned to look at the building as Taehyung got out of the car. "Jack...Hyde. Jack tried to...t-t-to touch me." I started to cry and catch me breath. I could see all feelings in Jimin's eyes went dark, "I'll kill him." Jimin rushed to the door but I grabbed him, "No, no, please don't go. Don't go, don't leave me." I shoved my face into his neck as he held me.
"Go." Jimin said to Taehyung as he ran inside the building.
"It's okay. Hey." Jimin held onto me tightly.
"I left everything. I don't have any of my stuff." I started to cry more.
"Taehyung will get it. Taehyung will get it. It's fine, okay? I'll take you home. Come on." Jimin said, walking me to the car.
