I declared I could not change, yet you tell me to my face I shall change soon. And what a distortion in your judgment. What a perversity in your ideas. Is it better to drive a fellow-creature to despair than transgress a mere human law?

The air was a bit cold as I exited from my school, heading to my car, my friend Jungkook stopped me.

"Y/n. I've been looking for you. What's up?"

I smiled as I continue to put my key in the door.

"Guess what," Jungkook asked.

"What?" I said with a chuckle.

"Portland Place is going to exhibit my photographs next month." He added.

"Oh my god!" I reached in for a hug, "Congratulations! That's so good!"

Jungkook started to playfully dance in place, "Solo show, corazón."

"Can we celebrate later because I'm really late for work?" I grabbed the handle of my car.

"Yeah, yeah, yeah, you got it." Jungkook stopped and awkwardly backed away.

"But um-" I mumbled.

Jungkook reached for the car door, "hold on." And opened it for me.

"Thank you." I kissed the side of his cheek. "You're my hero." And got in my car.

I was able to get to Clayton's hardware store on time to start unpacking things and putting them on the shelves.

My phone started ringing so I quickly answered it before I got caught.

"Mom, I'm at work, can I call you back?"

"No, wait wait wait. I called for a reason. Bob broke his foot playing golf, of all things." My mom continued. Bob was another one of her boyfriends. It kinda seemed like she was going to settle with him.

"God. Is he okay? Is he in a lot of pain?" I asked sarcastically.

"Who can tell with the man? He calls the paramedics for a blister."

I chuckle as my mom added a joke.

"It means, though, we won't be able to fly in for graduation." My mom then said.

You're kidding. I'm graduating, and she can't come because her other boyfriend broke his so-called foot?

"Really? I mean? You don't wanna just come alone? You don't have to bring Bob."

My mom laughed, "And leave Tiger Woods to fend for himself?...you do understand don't you, darling?"

"Yeah. I- yeah it's fine...."
No, I really didn't and no it wasn't fine.

"Uhm, I really have to go. Okay?" As I said those following words, I held in the small tears that I could predict from the pain in my throat.

"I love you, y/n"

"I know, I love you too." I quickly hung up as I took a deep breath, "god."

"Y/N?"

I heard a heavenly male voice call my name. I looked up thinking it was...maybe I was hearing...well...

I looked up to see my boss.
"Could you give me a hand out back?"

"Oh yeah, I'll be right there." I finished off putting up the box I had which only had a few supplies in.

I put down the box and headed to the next aisle. I looked down it as I went to pass it to only have my heart drop to my stomach once I saw...Mr. Park.

"I thought it was you." He said smiling as he came towards me.
