Chapter 18

Kane's POV

After I made sure Hope was safely in the cave again I turned to Edward and nodded for him to take a seat around the fire, waking up to Hope being gone was bad then to walk into what I did was even worse at least now I know she's safe and I get a good feeling about Edward and Evan his wolf they both seem strong.

"They are strong Kane and they are here for a reason so hear him out ok?" Felix informs me as I sit opposite Edward "Fine." I tell him. "So let me tell you a bit about Princess Hope then I want to hear your story." I say looking Edward straight in the eye, he nods his head but stays quite waiting for me to start.

"I don't know how much you know but the short of it is she was kidnapped by Gregory when she was seven, he kept her locked in a cell and from what I've gathered, heard and seen she never left that cell. She had a small gym provided and he also gave her a basic human and wolf education, but she didn't actually believe in werewolves until one or two days ago." I start expalining.

"She is one hell of a fighter as she was also taught both practical and non practically, he wanted her to be a machine but what he didn't count on was Selene her wolf....." I trailed off remembering when she told me she tried to hang herself. I looked at the ground before continuing "Sh.. She tried to kill herself before Selene made an appearance, she was just about to step down and hang herself when Selene spoke to her and it made her hesitate. This gave Selene enough time to convince her not to do it although Hope didn't know at the time Selene was her wolf let alone what they would both become." I stopped to let this sink in.

Edwards's POV

"Wow" was all I could whisper, that was a lot of information to take in all in one go considering the whole reason I'm here and not home is her. I look at Kane with what I think is shock because to be honest I'm not sure what I feel right now but that's the closest thing, "So he had her this whole fucking time.... But How? I thought he was dead?" I growl.

"So did we." Kane says with a simple shrug. A thought crossed my mind and I looked at the ground because I really didn't want to ask my next question but I know I need to for my own peace of mind, I take a deep breath steadying myself before asking "How bad..... How bad was it for her..... Did he?" I couldn't finish.

Kane sighed before explaining "He had her beaten often but never touched her himself, in fact she only saw him on what he thought was her birthday. The rest of the time she was either alone, with screaming prisoners or being beaten by her guards." I couldn't believe what I was hearing she was a f*****g child.

"Did h... He touch her in o.... Other ways?" I asked with a tremor in my voice "You mean?" Kane asks with wide eyes "You know what I mean." I reply with a sigh. "I.... I um..... I don't thin..... Think so no, she said he made her learn how to please her mate with porn but that's the only sexual stuff she went through I think." he rushes out in one breath clearly uncomfortable with the topic but I needed to know, that child is like a daughter to me I've been searching for her for so long that's how it feels anyway.

"Let me guess he told her he was her mate?" I growled under my breath but Kane heard me "Yep, but Selene told her he was lying and they seem to have an ability to tell when someone is lying to her or not." he informs me, "What else can she do then?" I asked on instinct. He growled in response so I quickly put my hands up to show I meant no harm, "Sorry reflex, I'll wait until she tells me and I can tell her my story." I quickly explain which seems to calm him a bit.

"So does Gregory have a mate?" I ask trying to change the subject "Did." Kane corrects me with a scoff, "What happened to her?" I ask. Kane looks sad for a moment "He killed her in front of Hope I'm not really sure what he hoped to achieve but it just made her hate him more and don't even mention him to Selene she's still a bit hurt and pissed Hope had to go through that for ten years on her own." he informs me, "F**k." I hear Evan say in our link "Yeah that's one sick wolf" I say in response. "So what's your deal?" I ask eyeing him with a level of suspicion.

Kane's POV

Edward is looking at me like I'm the rouge that was found submitting to our future queen and I had to hold in my chuckle "I'm the brother of Alpha Hunter of Mountain Ridge Pack and I was sent to find my brothers true mate even if he doesn't know it just yet." I finish with a chuckle to myself, he looks confused for a minute before his eyes wonder over to the cave and widen as they turn back to me, now I'm really holding in the laughter. "Well I wasn't expecting that..... Wait Mountain Ridge but I thought....." he trailed off as he looked at my face.

I looked down shaking my head before explaining "Alpha Eric died in a attack he fought with everything he could but he was cornered and out numbered, his last request was that we kept his death secret until the time was right. I don't know if Hunter has been visited by the Goddess yet but I'm pretty sure the news is out now." I explain sadly at the memory.

"This is a lot to process I don't think I'll be getting any rest tonight, my body might stop but I don't think I'll be able to turn my mind or Evan off." Edward says with a sign and I can't help the chuckle that escapes my mouth, "That's enough you two, rest for a couple of hours then we move on sound good." I suddenly hear in my mind and look up at Edward who's looking behind me, he got the link as well then.

I sigh as I turn around ready to argue with her but one look at her face shows her statement leaves no room for fighting, so I look back to Edward and shrug before getting up and heading into the cave as I pass Hope I give her shoulder a small squeeze of gratitude. I can sense Edward is following behind me and I turn around just catching him doing the same as me and squeezing her shoulder.
