Chapter 12

Hope's POV

With my final nod Kane turns back to the door and slowly opens it making sure we have a clear path then he slips through holding it open for me, as I step out I stop and take a deep breath. The smell is so different up here, all I've smelt for as long as I can remember was death and decay.

Kane glances behind him when he notices I'm not actually following him and I'm just standing with my eyes closed breathing in the fresh smell, for the first time in I don't know how long I have a real genuine smile on my face. "As happy as I am seeing you enjoying this Princess, we really don't have time when the guards are down then you can enjoy this for a few minutes ok?" Kane says in a rush bringing me back to the fact I am still trapped, so with a stern look and a curt nod we start moving.

"Ok control room is here and has only one guard." Kane starts but before he can finish I grab his arm and look at him saying with my eyes "Let me please I need to do this for not just me but Selene as well." I'm practically on my knees pleading for this. These guards have beaten, starved and tortured me for as long as I can remember.

He studies my face for a few seconds realising what I'm trying to say before motioning me towards the door, I peek through the little window and see the guard watching TV with something on his ears. Kane has a quick look and says that he won't hear me enter because of the things on his ears. So I slowly open the door, but just as it's about to close the guard turns suddenly. Without even thinking I grab the little knife Kane gave me and I throw it across the room where it hits the guard right in his Adams apple, he looks at me with horror filled eyes as his hands go up to hold the knife is place.

He knows if he pulls it out the bleeding will get worse quickly, I can see he is getting weaker as his knees start to shake and then they give out from his body weight. I step towards him and in one quick movement the knife was back in my hand, now he is looking at me with fear and tears in his eyes and all I do back is smirk that I killed him.

I turn around as Kane enters the room with an amazed look on his face, I just shrug at him in response like it's no big deal because to me it really isn't. What else did I have to do locked up for all these years, except plan my revenge on each and every person that touched me and train myself to be ready.

"That was incredibly fast actions Princess, I expected a lot from you but wow just WOW." he says as he locks the door, he then turns to me and said "Ok we're good here for a bit, you see all those screens." he points over my shoulder. I turn around and look at all the screens properly and that's when I notice that they're all different parts of a building, my eyes zeroing in on one screen in particular.

The one of the hole and my cell I can see myself sitting on my bed just staring, I can't help but think this is all a dream and maybe just maybe I'm still in that cell. In my dream I'm having an out of body experience and finally seeing what a pathetic thing I am, I'm snapped out of my thoughts when a hand lands on my should. I whip my head to the persons face and it's Kane, this isn't a dream it is really and then I remember the video is on a loop.

"Hey come on lets discuss what will happen next and then we can get you out of here." Kane says softly guiding me away from the screens, that's when I notice tears are falling from my eyes again so I wipe them away. Strength is what I need right now so strong I will be, there will be time to break down later I hope.

"Ok so there are two ways out of here, the first is the gate which has two guards at a time. Or we can go through the forest, my only issue is to keep the gate guards alive or not?" Kane explains, I turn to look for a pen and paper when I find some I quickly write "Can't we kill all the guards make it look like we left through the gate then go through the forest or the other way round depending on the fastest way out of here." I show it to Kane and I can see his face light up with an idea.
