It was the day after I had donated my suit to the museum and it was time to talk to the supposed, one who escaped the Cove. I was excited to get the truth that I wanted, especially for Mileena's sake but, I'd be lying if I wasn't sure I was going to be happy with what I would hear.

While talking to the other person on the phone, I had come to the conclusion that this was definitely the man Mileena's mother wanted me to find. The man over the phone talked about someone named Cassandra, I assumed that was the name of Mileena's mother. I could ask her later anyway.

Things at shield had been kind of uneventful lately and in this line of work, that's a blessing in disguise. Didn't know how long that would last and at that point, I was just waiting for my landline to start ringing off the hook because Violet, Howard, or Peggy had either good or very bad news to tell me.

But for now, it was time for some answers. I stood in an alleyway, following the address that the man over the phone had given me. After this meeting had been done, I had to prepare to meet with the Cove's higher-ups—that I didn't even know existed.

The alleyway I was in was dark and a little cold, I wasn't scared though, if anything, I knew I could protect myself.

I didn't have to think about that for long since I soon came across an elegant glass door within the alleyway. It looked very out of place for a location like this.

Above the door had a sign that said "The Golden Star". I rose my eyebrow. The man did tell me about a cafe through, this was very different from what I had in mind.

I grabbed the engraved handle and pulled the door open, upon opening a bell rang, letting whoever was in the cafe know that someone had arrived.

A woman was up at the front counter of the warm cafe, it was the type of place you would go to shelter yourself from bad weather or if you were down in the dumps. As she acknowledged the bell, she turned around to greet me.

"Welcome to the Golden Star, how may I help you?" Her skin was a mix between copper and brown, with her dark brown slicked back into a bun, much like how Violet would style her hair. The woman wore an apron and had a big smile on her face, she seemed friendly enough.

I swallowed, not sure what to make out of this situation. "Oh hello—I'm looking for someone." I approached her and read the nametag she wore, April. This was definitely not who I was looking for.

She titled her head. "Looking for someone? Who?"

"The one who got out." I thought the words of Mileena's mother would help me again, I was right.

April's whole demeanor changed, she got serious. "Wait here." She started to walk out of my view, going into a small kitchen that was in the very back of the store.

I waited patiently and took the time to look at the cafe closely. There were displays with different confections and cakes, handcrafted oak tables and matching chairs. Coffee was in the air, just the smell of it woke me up.

This cafe looked like the type of place I would see as a child, walking with my aunt in Manhattan to visit some of her old friends. These were always the types of places we could never go into...well, at least things have seemed to change.

My daydreaming was cut short when April stood back at the front counter, beside her was a man who could pass for being in his early sixties. April looked like the female version of him.

"Christina." His voice was deep. "Nice to meet you. I'm Lewis and this is my daughter April." He held out his hand and I shook it.

"We talked over the phone. I'm ready for whatever you have to tell me."
