Loki had finally been stopped but that came with the cost of leaving New York in shambles. It looked even worse than it did during the Great Depression and I, of all people, could tell you that for sure.

I was in some restaurant in Manhattan with the rest of the team, finishing up some Shawarma which Tony dragged all of us to, and frankly, we did as he said since he saved everyone and nearly died. That was bound to damage your mental state.

After that, everyone went their separate ways. Natasha and Clint went back to S.H.I.E.L.D, Dr. Banner and Tony left together (Tony ducked any questions about a child) and Thor left with a couple of Asgardian guards who were carrying Loki to prison. It was only me and Steve left by nighttime so, we needed some catching up time.

I reached into my pocket for the keys to my Brooklyn apartment, Steve was behind me now dressed in his regular clothes staring the place down, looking impressed. When I finally unlocked the door, he looked like his eyes were gonna roll out of his head.

"Nice place—I could barely afford my apartment in Brooklyn."

"Inflation, some things never change." I threw my keys onto my coffee table and then I walked to my record player, picking out a Frank Sintra album.

"How'd you manage to afford to live here?"

"Long story but I got enough time to tell you about it." I went over to the couch to sit down and Steve followed closely behind. "How do you like the new Brooklyn?"

"It's alright, I think it has a bit of the same charm that the Brooklyn we grew up has."

"Right charm, so was it the piles of garbage that was outside of your building at all times or the raccoons that wouldn't shut up at night?"

"Very funny Tina."

"No seriously Steve, did you get to explore the city at all?"

"A little, it's all so...overwhelming y'know? To get used to everything."

"Yeah I get, I've had to do that four times."

He rose his eyebrow. "Four times?"

Well, there goes nothing.

"You want to know everything that happened from the time you were gone right?"

"Of course."

"I'll give you the crash course. After you and...Bucky died I spent a year mourning, Howard was with me every step of the way. But apparently, I was pronounced dead in '46 when a S.H.I.E.L.D base fell that's when I woke up in the Cove."

Steve clasped his hands together. "The Cove?"

"It's a place where others like me called Vessels live to keep our secret intact. I am the head of the Cove as the Bloodborne well, I am now. There was these Vessels council that was keeping everyone hostage but that's different. In the 60s I rejoined S.H.I.E.L.D and worked with Peggy and Howard to take down an organization called Deep Sea. But first, we had to get an associate of ours named Henry Laurent." I took a deep breath. "He was my first relationship after Howard but that crashed and burned."

"Sorry to hear that. Sounds like this story runs deep."

I looked away from Steve, he had no idea and what I was about to tell him next would quite possibly leave him speechless.

"That same night when I was going back to my hotel room from the first mission to collect Henry, I was attacked. A man with a motorcycle came right by my car—" I gulped. "And he threw the driver right out of it, I had to fight him myself."

I felt the atmosphere in the room change, it was like Steve knew I was about to drop a bomb on him like his 6th sense was telling him to brace for impact. "Did you get a good look at the guy?"
