"Muntik ko nang makalimutan, bakit bigla ka na lang nawala sa party after your speech, brod? Umiral na naman ba pagka-suplado mo at ayaw mong magpakita sa mga empleyado mo?" Edward suddenly asked Adam as they were having their drinks at their favorite bar.
It's Friday evening and it's one of their habits to go to their favorite place to discuss what happened to his companies during the week. This is the place they also normally go to in order to relax.
"Somewhere."
"Ang layo nun ah. Wala yata akong alam na ganung lugar."
"Pfft."
"Buti na lang at tinulungan ako ni Sam na i-entertain ang mga guests. Sa susunod, pwede sabihin mo sa akin in advance para naman...."
"Sam?"
"Yeah, Samantha, my secretary. "
So, her name is Samantha.
The woman that he was so close to forgetting, if not being mentioned by Colin.
He did not enjoy the rest of the night after that meeting with the "princess". Muntik pa siyang magpakita sa party sa kagustuhang makita pa ito.
He knew she was was attracted to him as he was to her. In fact, it was so strong he was willing to forget about Colin. Forget that silent pack between them. But at the end, he controlled himself. Their friendship still mattered so much to him.
It was the first time for him to be really interested with someone. Most of the time, it was the women who approach him, not otherwise. Sabi nga ng kaibigan niya, silent rule daw niya yun when it comes to women.
Therefore, why would he break that rule just for someone like Samantha? Except for her beauty, nothing is extraordinary with the woman. And even if there is, why would he care? All women are the same. They just need him for his money and fortune, and of course, his body. That's why he treats them like candy. At one point they were his favorites but once he found a sweeter one, he'll throw them to the garbage.
But unlike other women, Samantha did not swoon over him. Initially, yes. But in a span of one minute, her attitude towards him changed. For her, he's a Prince Adam, The Beast.
Maybe that was the reason why he was drawn to her. He was somehow intrigued why she was not drawn to his charm. At ewan ba niya, but there's something in her he couldn't figure out. And it's in his habit to learn everything about things or people once his interest is piqued.
He was so eager to know more about her when he went back to Manila. But as he was about to open her employee file, he changed his mind.
"What's the use of knowing her? She belongs to Edward."
He sent back her profile without reading any single thing about her.
"Forget about her Adam, it's useless. It will be a big issue between you and Edward. It might even be the cause of your rift with with him," he reprimanded himself.
And so, in order to forget her, he drowned himself with work and with women. Party here and there, date here and there, jump to bed from here to there.
She was actually forgotten from his mind until his bestfriend mentioned her.

"Someone called me from New York after that speech and it was a conference call kaya nawala ako bigla," pagsisinungaling niya.
"Ganun ba? Was it about the new project we're targeting? Sila ba yung prospective joint venture partners natin for this project?"
