As expected, Armageddon was waiting for him. Four succubi attacked him at the same time. Attacks and wild insults took place from all sides. Zack lay laughing on the sofa next to Kara the whole time, watching everything with her cool grace.

Lucan just dodged a third kunai, only to be almost slashed by a katana shortly afterwards.

"Then you've finally found your place?" Kara asked Zack, who nodded.

"Yes, Kara. I have finally found my peace. A place where I belong and which I never want to leave."

Kara smiled, for the first time in Zack's life. And as quickly as it had come, it was gone again. He had always wondered what Kara thought about him. Now he knew that despite his quirks and flaws, she appreciated him and only wanted the best for him.

"Heaven, I'll miss that. I will come by as often as I can," Zack said.

Kara just nodded. "Either way, your room is too small to turn into anything meaningful. So it'll stay that way."

Kara didn't know what that meant to Zack. It was reassurance that he could return at any time. To the home where he grew up, where he would always be welcome. "Thank you. For everything."

"Nothing to thank." Yes, she was not a demon of many words. "Shouldn't you slowly help your heart?" she asked with a thoughtful expression.

"Hmm, not yet. I'll make him suffer a little more."

After another ten minutes, however, he felt sorry for Lucan. He darted towards them and jumped on his back. The attacks paused and everyone looked at him with an expectant look.

Zack unfolded his wings and tail and said in a lascivious voice: "I'm sorry girls, but only a succubus may feed on this specimen."

The girls burst into laughter. Lucan's pulse slowly began to calm down. He reached around and pulled Zack forward to give him a passionate kiss. "That also applies the other way around," he said with a grumble. Zack just laughed.

The farewell was heartbreaking. Tears flowed and curses were hurled in Lucan's direction. Rika stepped next to Lucan and looked at him with a serious look. "If you-"

"I know, I know, if I hurt him, I will die several cruel deaths. Don't worry, I'll protect him, never leave him alone," interrupted Lucan.

Rika put on an insulted expression. "That too, but what I wanted to say was that if you don't teach him to fight, he will always be a twig. We've all cut our teeth on him, so I wish you good luck. He's the toughest nut I've ever encountered."

Lucan looked at her in surprise.

"Take care of my baby. I entrust him to you and never forget - live for him," Rika added and pulled the giant demon into a hug.

"I'm going to do that, Rikara, but it will never change that you're Zack's foster mother, which is why I'm going to show you that respect," Lucan said, kneeling to pay her that honor.

A screech commented on this scene, but Rika could hardly hide her joy, even if she tried. She had known from the beginning that Lucan could give Zack what she had never been able to do. He had given him his life back. She knew Lucan was fundamentally decent and loyal. Her baby was in good hands. Killian, can you see it? Your son has grown into a wonderful man and has a wonderful man as his mate. You can be proud of him.

Rika was the last one Zack had to say goodbye to. That wasn't easy for him. His hands were shaking and he didn't know what to say. Warm hands embraced his and he calmed down.

"Zack, it's all fine. I mean, you're going to show up here at least once a month for taco night, and of course you can bring your guy with you."

Tears rose in his eyes. He pulled Rika into a tight embrace. "Rika, thank you. Thank you for everything. I don't know how I can ever repay you." Then the tears flowed.

Rika brushed tears off his cheek and said lovingly, "Your life has only just begun. You will always have your home here and we will be waiting for you. If he gets on your nerves, there is always a warm bed and a delicious meal ready for you here."

He needed his confirmation. Zack thought wistfully of their time together, but Rika was right. Now a new phase in his life began and he would enjoy it to the fullest. He cautiously broke away from his foster mother/best friend. "I will," he said, wiping away his tears. "I love you."

"We love you, too," his girls shouted and Zack laughed.

"We know you do," Connie exclaimed.

Zack nodded and grabbed Lucan's hand. "I'm ready, Yalo," he whispered to his demon.

Lucan just laughed. "I've been ready since we first met, Nyiam."

And so together they began a new phase of their life together. Hand in hand. Together.

A raven landed on the balcony and screeched. Annoyed, Lyric opened the balcony door and stepped outside. Who dares to annoy me with a messenger so early?

The raven fluttered excitedly. He carefully removed the scroll from his foot. As soon as he was freed from it, he flew away again. "You're not even waiting for my answer?" What could this be?

He went inside and sat down on the sofa in front of the fireplace, then unrolled the small scroll. He froze. The note slipped out of his hand and sailed to the ground. His eyes followed and remained on the curved letter.

Fly up my little bird,
Fly up as far as you can,
But pay attention my little bird,
Sink when the wind turns.

Come to me, my little bird.
