CHAPTER 1: Long Time No See

LAMIA'S POV

"Papa! I'm ready!" Sigaw ko at bumaba papuntang sala. Hinihintay pa kasi ako ni Papa matapos mag-ayos dahil ihahatid niya raw ako sa school.

Well, I'm already eighteen na. Legal age na ako. But still, hinahatid pa rin ako ni Papa. Dahil natatakot daw siya na baka may mangyari sa akin.

Kaya ko na ang sarili ko.

Pero hindi ko masisisi si Papa roon. He loves me and I love him too. Kaming dalawa lang ang nanirahan dito, at napapalibutan pa ng mga punuan. It's refreshing to live here; you'll have a peace of mind here.

"You're done?" I nodded.

Lumabas na siya ng bahay kaya sumunod na ako sa kaniya. Pumasok na rin ako sa sasakyan at binuhay na ni Papa ang makina.

At my very young age, I lost my Mom. I'm still five years old that time. I can still remember, all of it. Hinding-hindi iyon mawawala sa isip ko. I miss her so much. Sobrang bata ko pa noon nang mawala siya. Hanggang ngayon umaasa pa rin akong babalik siya kahit alam ko namang hindi na talaga. Hindi na talaga babalik si Mama.

Flashback

"Momma? What's happening?" I asked my mother. She was trembling, scared to look outside.

"Momma? Why are you scared? Are you okay, Momma? What's happening—"

Binuhat ako ni Mama at tinignan ako sa aking mga mata. "You need to hide, baby. We will play... Hide and seek. You like that, right?" She said, forcing a smile for me.

Dinala ako ni Mama sa basement, ibinaba ako, at lumuhod siya sa aking harapan. "I'm going to find you here, okay? Magtago ka rito sa basement. I promise to find you as soon as possible." She kissed my forehead.

"Momma... Are you okay?" I pouted. "It seems like you're scared, Momma. We need to find Dada!" I shouted, and because of that, I couldn't help but cry.

"Shhh... Parating na si Dada mo. Just hide, okay? May titignan lang ako sa labas and after that kukunin na kita rito. Understood?" I nodded after she said that to me.

Tumayo na si Mama at binuhat ako at inilagay sa madilim na parte ng basement. I'm really scared of what's happening right now. I don't know what to do.

"You are safe here, just be quiet, hm? And I'm going to find you, okay?"

I nodded, "Yes, Momma... Comeback please, Momma..."

"I promise, sweetie." Tumayo naman siya at mabilis na lumabas ng basement. Narinig kong nilock iyon ni Mama.

I have nothing to do kaya napaupo na lang ako at napayakap sa sarili ko.

I'm crying silently and I couldn't help it. I want to see what's happening outside. I want to check on her. I want to help her. I want to help Momma.

But Momma said 'Just quiet.'— kaya ginawa ko iyon. I'm really scared right now. I'm not scared because I'm alone in the basement, but I'm scared for my Momma.

"AAAHHHH!!"

Mabilis kong tinakpan ang aking bibig habang mabilis na tumutulo ang aking mga luha.
