Sanem

Of all the reasons he is listing to explain why he is so convinced he wants to go ahead with this engagement sham, my traitorous heart decides to pause for a moment on just the last one.

"Because I wasn't kidding when I told Akif that in my eyes you are gorgeous..."

But then the echo of the obligations and constraints he mentioned just before reaches the four neurons that still manage to function in my mind as he is so close to me and I feel I must rebel. I quickly turn away from him, unable to think rationally when he touches me.

I'm not surprised to hear that he is aware that I intend to leave the agency, I imagined Emre would have made him aware of my decision straight away. If Can had let me talk I would have informed him of my plan as early as this morning when we were on the rocks, but as usual he doesn't seem to want to listen.

When I tell him that I am planning to go somewhere else to start a new life I seem to see his usual confidence waver, he looks at me troubled before stating with conviction:

"I will not allow you to leave Sanem, even if it is the last thing I do, I ..."

I will never know what he had intended to add because, once again, the ringing of his phone comes to interrupt a confrontation that was now at a standstill, each adamant in his position.

He brings the phone to his ear, continuing to stare at me frowning until the interlocutor on the other end seems to catch his attention.

"Whaaat??? Tamam, tamam, alright, alright Cey Cey I'm coming back. Tamam, stay calm, I'll be right there'.

He nods his head "Get in, let's go".

I cross my arms. "No, Miss Deren told me to wait and I'll wait here, I'm not going back to the agency".

"Sanem, please, we don't have time to argue now. Cey Cey just told me that at Fikri Harika, Mr Fabri came as a surprise."

I shrug my shoulders carelessly "So what? Where's the problem? Go ahead and meet him'.

He moves resolutely towards me to take my hand and bring me back to the door of his off-road vehicle, opens the door and waves for me to get in.

"You have to come too."

I remain still in my position turning my head away.
"Why should I come too?"

"Because in the agency waiting for me in my office is also my mother, Huma, and ..... Polen..."

I turn my head sharply, in an instant realising that the situation is indeed complicated, I now understand why Cey Cey was so agitated. If Fabri were to meet Polen he might realise that our engagement is false and decide to tear up the contract he has just given to Fikri Harika, with devastating consequences for the agency's fortunes.

I take an exasperated sigh, spreading my arms wide before climbing aboard the off-roader, and putting on my seatbelt I cross my arms again, annoyed at the absurd situation we have got ourselves into.

Can gets behind the wheel and drives off in a hurry while a tense silence descends into the cockpit for the entire journey. I only open my mouth when we are in front of the agency entrance, I turn briefly to him as I unbuckle my seatbelt and tell him: 'You went to Polen to end your relationship and she accepted it. So you told me this morning if I am not mistaken. Bravo Can Divit, you must have been really clear and convincing."

I get out of the car and hurriedly reach the entrance, about to enter when I hear hurried footsteps behind me and that hand, once again that hand, take mine to drag me into a corner of the building's grand lobby.
