Wrecker stood astonished at the destroyed facility of what once was a safe haven for those against the Empire. Watching with careful eyes, he saw the look Hunter and Tech shared while they watched over Crosshair who held a piece of paper tightly in his fists as well as Howzer’s broken helmet.
“Hunter, you best come see this!” Cut called out from within the Havok Marauder. Hunter signalled for the batch to leave the battlegrounds and head back to the ship. Wrecker followed Tech back begrudgingly, turning around the two saw Hunter gently coax Crosshair back towards the ship.
“Cut, what did you find?” Tech asked, knowing the door to the ship had closed, signalling all occupants were onboard. “A message has popped up with a strange symbol and it requires a password” Suu replied, she had moved into the cockpit once her two children had fallen asleep on one of the bunks. Tech nodded, he pressed the message but before he could hack the channel to get onto the network. A hand grabbed his wrist gently, Tech turned and saw the haunted look on Crosshairs face. Cut moved out of the co-pilot seat allowing Crosshair the seat, the sniper sat down quickly before sighing and typing in the known password. It took a few minutes before a hologram message popped up. Hunter moved behind Crosshair when he saw who had hand delivered the message. Tech moved the message to the main screen in the cockpit before expanding it so the others could read it.
The message read:
Dear Dad,
It seems you are missing some people, to think it didn’t have to come to this. You could have just followed orders and handed over CT-9901’s children and accepted the proposal by Father. If you want your dear children back, your sister and brothers. I suggest you come to the place where I was born and hand yourself over.
The children are being monitored and will be decommissioned if you do not turn up. You can always have more if they are. The prophecy will commence soon with or without you but you already know that. Omega will feel so much pain if we initiate it and you are not here.
Meet me where I was born and battle me one last time and if you are worthy. Your brothers and children plus Omega are free to go and that is a sworn promise from me. You know our promises live to the end.
I can’t say what will happen when Father gets here, which will be soon. You have 2 days until he arrives and does whatever he wants to your so-called family. I shall expect to see you at sunrise. Do not worry your family can watch as I slaughter you to the ground.
Remember one gun, one blade and one dagger
Yours Sincerely,
Crux
“Crosshair, who is Crux?” Wrecker asked, confused despite the current glare Tech was sending his way. The sniper looked at his lap with disinterest, he gulped before spinning to face his brothers. “Crux is my son but the Admiral….” “Take your time Cross”. Crosshair was so thankful for the support of all his brothers, especially Hunter’s. “Admiral Rampart’s son, he…enhanced him to grow up too quickly, it caused side effects and he hates me….He believes in the Empire….he tried to kill Ashton and Honey…once he found out about them…I had kept them hidden when….they were born but he found the location of Cut and Suu and almost killed them all…I made a deal with him….I would stay with Rampart if…he didn’t reveal that I had other…kids but eventually….when I betrayed them….they found out”. Hunter watched Crosshair take deep breaths almost like he was avoiding the initial breakdown which would have occurred if they didn’t have company in the cockpit. “So he’s jealous?” Tech concluded. Hunter nodded while Wrecker laughed, bringing a smile to Crosshairs face.
“What do we say, we go and get my nephew and nieces back?” Suu suggested with a glare that it could rival Crosshairs. The batch nodded, they only had limited time. Tech punched in the coordinates Crosshair had given him. Wrecker moved to the main part of the ship intending on getting some sleep. Hunter pulled Crosshair to his bunk since Cut and Suu’s kids occupied Crosshairs bunk. Wrecker watched Hunter lower Crosshair onto his chest and stroke his short hair in a pattern to hopefully help calm the sniper down despite the harsh circumstances. After a few minutes of listening to Hunter’s heartbeat, Crosshair allowed sleep to take over his body. Feeling eyes on him, Hunter caught the eyes of both Tech and Wrecker while they settled into their bunks, the three of them keeping an eye on their sniper. Cut and Suu commanded the cockpit, allowing the batch mates to get some sleep before they started their planning.
They had to rescue their family and that included the spiteful ones *cough* Rex’s group. Tech knew the four of them could pull off the impossible and a look from both Hunter and Wrecker confirmed it. They just hoped Omega was alright and safe. Hunter looked down at the man in his arms, he thought back to the little black box Crosshair had reunited him with, just before he was introduced to his daughter.
Meanwhile…
Omega woke suddenly to loud footsteps below her. The first thing she noticed was that she was in a cage hanging from the ceiling. Hearing sniffling, Omega looked across her small cage to see both Honey and Ashton smiling back at her despite the silent tears. Carefully Omega rearranged herself so the cage would stay balanced and she pulled Honey into her arms while Ashton stayed where he was playing with his necklace which had the initials H & C symbolising his parents' names. Omega smiled; it was not long ago that Crosshair had given her a similar one with the initials on the back; she remembered the smile on his face when she hugged him.
While hugging Honey, Omega looked around and gasped. Other clones and allies were in cages scattered around the ceiling, all still in their armour but stripped of their weapons. She almost laughed when she saw Havok and Howzer were in the same cage. The two hated each other with a capital H. She noticed Ahsoka, Obi-one and Shaak Ti were in a electrified cage and they had slave collars on. Omega stretched her neck a little to see Rex and Wolffe were in one and the two were ignoring each other from Omega’s perspective, Commander Wolffe also still had his helmet on. He was one of the only clones to have his helmet still on his person.
Omega knew they had been in these cages for an estimated eight hours because Honey had about three hours left of supplied oxygen in her little pack. She hoped her brothers and parents would be here soon. Laughter from below sent wicked shivers down her spine. Looking over she caught Echo’s surprised look and Five’s funny face when the walls of the room trembled slightly. An explosion from somewhere in the facility set off the alarms, alerting the enemies to the presence of the one and only bad batch. Omega smiled when she recognised the tremor of the explosion as one of Wreckers' strategic battle plans.
The doors to the room slammed violently open about the same time Omega’s cage creaked as it slowly lowered towards the ground. Omega pulled her siblings to her side; she preferred being a sister than an aunt since she was quite literally a kid as Hunter always told her.
A shiver ran down her whole body when she came face to face with a huge shadow of a young man who wore bounty hunter clothing but looked oddly similar to Ashton a little bit. Omega gulped, recognising the man in front of her as none other than Crux. Crosshair had warned her about him. Speaking of the Sniper, he stood with a furious expression across his features as he glared at his son. Omega realised something, she had front seats to the battle of a lifetime. A frown etched its way onto her face, she pulled the twins closer while watching the battle intensely as Crosshair fought for their freedom.
Omega felt sick when a blade struck Crosshair and blood splattered on the floor. She shut her eyes hoping it would end soon. Something struck her side and the next thing she knew, darkness permanently took over her vision. The last thing she felt was hands grabbing her and pulling the twins away from her. “No!” she cried in her mind before welcoming the unavoidable darkness.
