One minute Crosshair was running through empty hallways, the next the walls were crumbling, mirroring the ceiling falling apart. The ripples from the explosion created cracks in all the floors of the facility. Thankful for his long legs the sniper pushed himself, quickening his own pace, he smiled seeing light up ahead. Without thinking, Crosshair jumps over a small crater landing swiftly on the other side of a door; if he turned back he would have seen the floor crumbling into the hole below. A groan to the left halted the sniper in his tracks. Crosshair was well aware that he was out of danger; he just had to find a way out without making the rest of the facility fall on top of his head. He certainly felt like living today. Coughing alerted him back to the noise he heard earlier.
The sniper pulled down the accessory on his helmet to look around with night vision. He bit his lip when his eyes landed on what had made the noise. Trapped right in front of him under a beam was none other than Crux. For once in his life, the sniper felt troubled. Omega sleepily spoke into his ear as he tried to assess the situation. The pained groan felt like it had gone straight through him, Crosshair felt unfamiliar instincts kicking in almost like forgotten parent instincts. Swiftly, Crosshair grabbed his small torch before shining it on the unfortunate victim as soon as the light assaulted Crux’s face. Brown eyes connect with green eyes. Crosshair groaned inwardly while Crux stared back at him in confusion. Why wasn’t the sniper ending it right now Crux thought.
For some reason beyond the universe, Crosshair had the urge to help Crux and he just couldn’t explain why he needed to help. Maybe because there was a scared little innocent child blocked by the darkness and Crosshair could almost feel it or because Crosshair didn’t need another death by his own hand. So with no hesitation, Crosshair grabbed his spear accurately placing it under the beam trapping Crux who watched with confused eyes, it only took a second for Crosshair to lift the beam using his spear. Making an easy escape for Crux who wiggled his way out from under the beam before Crosshair dropped it and sheathed his spear. “Crosshair!” Omega called out from the left, “I’ve found our way out!”. Crosshair nodded his helmet in Omega’s direction before offering Crux his hand, who took it and soon found himself on his own feet. Crosshair turned his back on Crux as he slowly made his way over to where he left Omega when words stopped him in his tracks. “Why?” Crosshair turned to face Crux again but this time he removed his helmet and arched an eyebrow. Crux groaned in frustration as he spoke, “Why did you help me after everything I did to you?”. The only response he got was a shrug from the older clone; Crux grumbled to himself as he followed Crosshair over to where the female clone had found an opening out of the facility.
Crux was utterly confused, there the three of them stood finally out of the broken facility standing watch over a cliff of somesort. Omega had binoculars in her sight, allowing her to see where the rendezvous point was. She spotted the ships and smiled seeing the clones had set up a camp while they waited on their teammates. Crux watched as Omega climbed onto Crosshairs back, he caught the wince the older clone had on his face when Omega’s knee dug into his injured side. Crux winced but stopped himself from gasping, hang on a minute since when did he care about CT-9904, he thought. Omega was either too exhausted or clueless that her weight was putting strain on Crosshair but Crux certainly wasn’t pointing it out since CT-9904 had a mean glare on his face. The cold breeze made Crux shiver as it went up his spine, he tried his communicator but soon found his father wasn’t picking up, he gulped. What in space was he going to do, he thought.
“Do you have somewhere to go?” the quiet voice of the young clone reached his ears. Crux turned to see Omega staring at his from where she was resting her head on Crosshairs shoulder. Crux shook his head without thinking. Omega smiled as she leaned to whisper something to Crosshair who groaned inwardly when she kicked his side when she moved back to the harness attached to his back.
