Omega didn’t know what to do, one minute she was in a cage with Ashton and Honey and the next she was being dragged through the corridors by the Empire. The distance from her family terrified her and she hoped Hunter would come and save her or one of her family. She desperately missed them but thankfully she had remembered the lessons they had taught her, the best was stealth and she was going to use it to her full advantage.
A stormtrooper made a huge mistake in letting go off Omega’s wrist and it was all she needed. Without warning, she kicked the trooper where the sun doesn’t shine and took off into a sprint, aware of the yells for her and the shots fired at her. Omega managed to escape the troopers while spotting a grate from a vent and climbing in. Her body was in agony but she didn’t have a choice but to keep moving. Carefully the young clone made her way through the small vents; she was certain Crosshair could fit through but none of the others. Her thoughts were all over the place, her emotions were everywhere. Shaking her head, Omega knew she had to focus. She was mesmerised by the room she found herself above. It was a control room with so many screens but nobody was in it.
Omega looked around confused when she heard what sounded like metal scraping against metal, wondering what it was. Omega held her breath when she realised what it was. Laser shots were fired in the distance at any vents and it created a ripple which knocked down any connecting vents. Quite soon Omega found herself falling violently to the concrete ground. Pain rippled through her small body. Her hands felt numb from how she had landed on them, carefully she adjusted herself to a crouching position and leaned against one of the desks. A countdown on a monitor got her divided attention, a frown etched on her face. Too similar to her father figure.
‘I miss Hunter’ Omega thought, a small part of her wished Hunter would be the first one through the doors. When the doors clicked open, Omega didn’t think, she just peeked over the monitor and dread filled her. Standing in the doorway aiming weapons at her was the Empire. They had found her, she had lost. She had lost all hope when the troopers began to advance on her, she had nothing to defend herself against the enemy. A trooper reached forward to grab her and all Omega could do was close her eyes; she expected the harsh tug but it never came. Opening her eyes, she found that the trooper that had been within reaching distance now had a hole through their chest plate, signalling they were dead.
Hearing another shot, Omega whipped around and smiled. There standing in the doorway to the door behind was none other than Crosshair. He gestured for her to come towards him as he defended her. The sniper was precise and accurate, making sure no shot got anywhere near her. Once the two were out of the room, Crosshair rammed his sniper into the button, breaking it, so the stormtroopers could not follow; he gently grabbed Omega’s hand before pulling her into a nearby room. The Sniper listened for the footsteps to disappear before he turned to check on the girl he had learned to love over the short time he had gotten to know her.
The young clone stood opposite the sniper with an almost broken look on her face. Omega had overheard the plans the Empire had for her and she certainly didn’t want to be a part of it. Looking up, sad brown eyes connected with anxious brown eyes. Omega looked at Crosshair who had moved to kneel in front of her before he opened his arms. It was all Omega needed. Without thinking, Omega launched herself into the sniper's chest despite the pain Crosshair gritted his teeth before pulling the young clone into his arms and moving himself into a standing position. He shifted Omega gently in his arms so he still had a hand on a pistol while his beskar spear and 773 Firepuncher were still strapped on his back. After a few moments of comforting Omega, he suddenly realised the 3 minute timer on a nearby monitor.
“Omega, hold on and don’t let go” Crosshair whispered to the young girl who nodded into his neck. Exhaustion clung to her frame. Crosshair nodded before biting his lip to avoid a pained gasp leaving his voice. Making sure his helmet was comfortable, Crosshair opened his comm line aware of the calls for his name.
“Crosshair, so help me. If you do not answer, I will personally find your beloved 773 Firepuncher and turn it into a…”. Crosshair smirked hearing Tech’s rambling over the comm line. Instead of answering them all separately he opened a wide comm line. “Crosshair, answer me. That’s an order!” Hunter's frustrated voice made the smirk fall off the sniper's face. He grimaced when an arm wrapped tightly around his neck while Omega shifted in his arms. “Hunter?!” “CROSSHAIR, WHERE THE…” “TECH, Enough! We do not have time, Crosshair. I have sent you some coordinates, get to them and we will meet you there. You have 2 minutes and 45 seconds to get out of the facility” Cody’s commanding voice came over the comm line, Crosshair nodded. “WAIT!” “What is it Wrecker?” “Sarge! Where is Omega?”. The comm link seemed to go up in confusion as many voices rambled over each other intending on getting their voices heard. Crosshair shook his head feeling a headache start to emerge, he was running through the facility to get out and hopefully reach the coordinates without running into anyone he didn’t particularly like. There was no way in hell Crosshair was leaving the batch to raise his children without him.
“ENOUGH!” a voice squeaked out startling each clone who argued. The sniper smiled at the silence over the comm link. Commander Wolffe hardly ever spoke but when he did, his voice always made an impact. “Crosshair, do you have Omega?”. “Yes, Hunter I do”. Hunter smiled at the response the sniper had given him but he instantly went into father mode, he wondered if she was hurt or upset. Thankfully, Howzer grabbed the bad batch’s leader and made him sit in one of the Havok Marauder’s chairs in the cockpit. The Havok Marauder and two other ships they may have stolen took off in the direction of the coordinates Cody had provided as a rendezvous.
A huge rippling explosion echoed around them as the facility behind them exploded. From that moment forward, no one actually knew if Crosshair and Omega had made it out of the facility on time. Two small bodies climbed into a lap with a strong chest, Hunter looked down only to gasp out loud. Ashton and Honey’s eyes were glowing and they were looking at him with the same look Crosshair gave him when he said, ‘I don’t die easily, we are survivors are we not sarge?’.
