Chapter 56

One of these days, the batch will find themselves at peace but it was definitely not going to be found in another pointless meeting. It had been another long two weeks since the rescue mission and the batch were getting bored. Doom didn't seem to be listening to the suggestions for the rebels to go on. He was more bothered about sorting out his kingdom than dealing with these little meetings.

Rex turned to the batch hoping for some insight when he noticed their stances. Crosshair was sitting in a chair with his feet on the table not that Doom minded since the marksman was clearly asleep with Archer in his sling. Hunter and Echo were looking down at the sleeping marksman while Wrecker, Fives and Tech had vanished with the children. 

"Ahem" Rex cleared his throat making two heads look his way. Hunter just raised an eyebrow at the captain, "Do you guys have any information you can add to this? Ever since Blackout revealed his face all of you keep vanishing. What is it that you're not telling us?" Rex questioned gesturing to himself, Ahsoka, Obi-wan, Mace Windu, Hound and a few other clones. Cody was nowhere in sight but that wasn't news to the batch. Turns out Cody was sick and he was confined to his room on orders from Kix. 

Speaking of the medic, the doors opened revealing the exhausted clone who looked pale. 

"Kix?" Rex stepped forward only to steady the clone. Kix moved out of range walking over to Jesse who was in the back corner, the clone looked up at his partner's approach and caught whatever object was aimed at his head. Kix didn't even explain his actions as he stalked back out of the room. 

All eyes turned to Jesse who frowned down at the small object.

"Jesse, what is it?" Hardcase asked from beside him. 

"It's a message from Shaak Ti and Cal" Jesse said, plugging in the small device Kix had managed to get for him. Jesse knew Kix meant no anger to him but a stressed out medic was never a good thing so there must have been something else going on. 

All attention turned to the screen where it showed a kneeling Shaak Ti and an unconscious Cal in her arms. The Jedi master was bleeding and being held at gunpoint by stormtroopers. 

"This is a message for the Emperor's Son, if he does not come and meet on the quake moonside altar on the planet Molisha in the next two days. There will be serious consequences for this Jedi and youngling. You will meet none other than the one known as Darth Vader who will bring you home" A Stormtrooper announced before cutting the feed off. 

All heads turned to Rex who sighed, the rebels were currently out tasked with missions that they couldn't halt their plans now looking for the Emperor's Son whoever that was.

"We need to stage a rescue mission" Jesse said looking at the screen showing Shaak Ti and Cal. 

"I know but our resources are thin. We can't strive off our path now" Rex said with a sigh. 

He was aware of the looks everyone was giving him. 

"Rex is right. I know it sounds negative but we are stretched thin. We don't have the supplies or people to go out and face this known threat!" Ahsoka explained. Some nodded while others sent glares her way. 

"We can do it" a voice from the doorway belonging to Tech, the engineer walked holding a steady gaze with the captain, "Technically Clone Force 99 is dead which means we can surprise them and get our family back. Giving you time to find the Emperor's son" Tech explained looking up from his datapad to see the smiles on Hunter and Echo's face. Crosshair had his helmet on the whole time so not many of them knew if he was actually asleep or had been listening in this whole time. Rex kind of hoped not with what had been said in the meeting especially when something brought out a strong reaction from both Echo and Hunter. Let the universe spare him if Crosshair was awake when they brought up the kids' situation.
