(Stars Are on Your Side - Ross Copperman)
Somewhere past tomorrow
It’s better that it seems
The life you live in dreams
If you’re ever broken
There’s always an open door
A beacon toward the shore
Wrecker and Fives shared a smile knowing Crosshairs soothing voice was running through the room, even to their own children who were falling into the land of dreams. Blackout had to leave as he caught Hunter's eyes and replaced his helmet while passing Archer over to an eager Echo who had yet to cuddle his nephew. Despite his throat being sore, Crosshair pushed on knowing he would deal with the consequences later on. Tech sent him a look and passed some water over which he gladly took a sip from.
Sometimes it takes dark,
Yeah, to feel a little light
Sometimes you need fire to see the other side
So get up off your knees
Hope is still alive
That place your searching for, I’ll know you’ll find
‘Cause the stars are on your side
Yeah, the stars are on your side
Crosshair smiled watching as Ashton slowly drifted off, hearing movement behind him had him turning to see Hunter moving Honey towards the bedroom. Crosshair followed without hesitation while Omega stumbled in after them. Hunter then emerged picking Omega up and helping her into bed as Crosshair continued to sway.
If you’re holding breath
Tired and your frail
Just exhale
Tech and Echo smiled to themselves, recognising the song as the one Crosshair hummed a lot in the past when they would return from a mission and Nala Se would need them. They would return to have the marksman wrap the one who left in his arms and hum the song to them. Occasionally he would sing it.
Know you’re bound for glory
And that all is never lost
No matter the cost
Sometimes it takes dark,
Yeah, to feel a little light
Sometimes you need fire to see the other side
So get up off your knees
Hope is still alive
That place your searching for, I’ll know you’ll find
‘Cause the stars are on your side
Yeah, the stars are on your side
Hunter watched from the doorway as Crosshair moved back into parental mode and kissed each of his children’s heads, the sergeant turned to take Archer from Echo who smiled at him gesturing for them to return to the lounge. Hunter nodded watching as Crosshair finished the soothing lullaby he had heard from somewhere. The marksman expertly turned around and took Archer from him to lie him down in his cradle, his youngest out like a light. The words of the lullaby came back to him as he sang. Crosshair continued even though he knew they were asleep, he let Hunter join in on the last couple of lines as they swayed together to both of their voices. For some reason, the two were quite good at putting people to bed and could sing. The batch only found out Crosshair could sing when they went drinking once and Crosshair performed perfectly to them all and soon enough when one of them had a nightmare. Crosshair would just sing to soothe them, it really helped when Tech was stressed, Hunter had a migraine, Echo was too worked up and Wrecker was depressed. Furthermore, it gave them peace and quiet listening to their youngests soothing voice.
