A few minutes beforehand…
Damn it, Crosshair thought. He heard the cry from Omega as grenades headed their way. He forced his and Crux’s body to the floor causing his body more agony. Shots rained on them, Crosshair managed to manoeuvre his body behind a tree, he noticed Crux was against one with Omega. Crosshair grabbed his spare pistol and threw it at Omega who caught it, although her aim wasn’t perfect she still helped take out some bandits. The sniper was quite impressed and proud of Crux, his shots hit with perfect accuracy. Some part of him was glad that Crux saw through the lies of the Empire but he wasn’t quite sure what Crux’s motives were.
A whirring of a lightsaber alerted the three to Asajj Ventress. Crux gulped when she looked in their direction, Crosshair threw a smoke bomb down from a downed bandits body. The sniper moved with skill shooting any bandits trying to close in, not so quite footsteps alerted him to some trying to sneak up behind them, smirking Crosshair took them down with ease. Crux smiled watching his other ‘parent’ whom he never got to know, take down their enemy without hesitation. Crux always thought CT-9904 was a traitor but he now realised the clone was only trying to protect those who are important to him. Especially when he found CT-9904, no Crosshair, with the twins. Crux will never understand why he told Admiral Tarkin about Crosshairs children and cause a huge rift between him and Crosshair. The sniper grabbed Crux and Omega, pulling them behind a tree. He instructed them, “Crux, get Omega to safety. Two clicks west is where the bad batch should be. Ask for Hunter! I will be right behind you, now go!”. Just as Crosshair finished, a grenade was thrown in between the three, Crosshair shoved Crux and Omega back, taking the impact of the grenade. Crux did as he was told despite his body being in pain he took off running. He could hear footsteps following but they were soon taken down by accurate sniper shots, and a smiling Crux needed to thank CT-9904 for everything once they met up again. Crux hoped he was not too late to get to know his other ‘parent’.
A few shots pierced his skin but Crux soon found the opening he was after, he just didn’t expect to come face-to-face with Asajj Ventress, she slashed at his body. He turned so his back got hit but before any more of him or Omega could get hurt. Crosshairs spear appeared out of nowhere, with some strength the sniper shoved the assassin backwards. Omega cried out for her brother but Crux continued running forward until he reached a clearing, just as a cry rippled through the forest.
Crux came face-to-face with none other than Commander Cody and Sargeant Hunter. He silently cheered but stopped in his tracks when blasters were aimed at him from all sides, he winced from beneath his mask when another pained cry came from within the forest. “Crux?” The voice of the clone medic, Kix, reached Crux’s ears just as the medic came over, followed by Rex and Jesse.
Crux did the only thing he could think of in this time of need, he pleaded, “Please…help…her and…cro-..”. Words struggled to come out as blood flowed freely out of his mouth. No sooner did Hunter take Omega out of Crux’s arms then did the young bounty hunter collapse onto the floor, Cody knelt down next to him. “Where is he?” Cody insisted while shaking the hunters shoulders. A scream of pain echoed across the valley of trees coming from the direction Crux and Omega had just vacated. Looking down, Cody noticed the blood coming out of Crux’s mouth.
“Kix! Save him! Don’t ask questions, you will thank me later!” Cody ordered some of the clones who gave him strange looks but Kix nodded, accepting the challenge. Commander Wolffe refused to go near the bounty-hunter but no-one could work out why, so Wolffe helped Tech with Omega’s medical care.
Meanwhile…
Asajj Ventress knew CT-9904 was in a much weaker state. Yet every time they fought, he always surprised her. She gasped when Crosshair managed to disarm her, she used her force to bring the lightsaber back to her when the lightsaber didn’t come back to her. Instead, Crosshair was holding it in his hand. “It won’t work for you, clone. It only works for those with a dark spirit!”. Asajj Ventress smiled with a wicked look, the smile dropped when the lightsaber crackled to life in Crosshairs hand. “How!” she cried out, but when he lifted his helmet to reveal black eyes. The bounty hunter backed away slowly, with powerful hits. Crosshair double-attacked her with his spear and her lightsaber, until she fell to the floor unconscious.
