Fire paced back and forth on the rock. There was no guarantee that Mind would be coming. The chances were basically negative 215. After all, if Mind was ever going to come back to the asteroid, it would likely be at one of the set times for them to meet up. Not so soon after all of this mess.

Yet Fire was here. Because he really wanted to see Mind again. Just the thought of never seeing his friend was enough to make him want to cry. Not because he liked the Shadow, despite what Water thought. He was simply good friends with Mind and was fine with it staying that way.

Fire looked up toward the expanse of space, dotted with colorful spirals and blobs and lights. Yet it still remained black overall. It was a nice balance. The Shadows had their darkness and the Sun's had their light. Fire found himself smiling. Maybe he and Mind were part of that balance too.

Mind couldn't believe his eyes. His very stupid eyes that wanted to cry again. He tried to remind himself that crying was okay, and he kind of knew that. It was more that his eyes were still sore and he was pretty sure he was out of tears for the next forever.

But that's beside the point. Fire was here! He was here! This was amazing, and beautiful and Mind wanted to just scream for the joy of it. He was still riding the joy that had come from releasing all those pent up negative emotions, and he was going to enjoy this feeling as long as it lasted. Mind knew that he wasn't fully okay yet. As a matter of fact there was no way he was at all okay. But he was happy right now, and he was going to make it so that he could be happy all the time.

All of that started with Fire, however. Hopefully Blood's advice to just talk with the Sun was good advice. Hopefully they could be friends again. The fact that Fire had come to the asteroid was a good sign, right?

Mind guided himself through the emptiness of space till he landed on the asteroid a few steps behind Fire. The Sun was standing with his back to Mind.

Mind took a deep breath. Well, as much as one could breathe without air. It was more the motion of breathing and steeling yourself than anything. This was it. Maybe Fire had just returned to tell Mind off, and the Sun never wanted to see him again! Then what would Mind do? He really felt like he needed Fire. But there was no way the Sun needed-

I am not going to keep spiraling, Mind told himself fiercely. It was time to take this leap, unburn this bridge. He was going to do this. He would be able to be friends with the Sun again.

     Fire? Mind asked.

Fire? Fire heard the thought enter his head. He whirled around to where he knew that Mind would be standing behind him. He felt his heart swell up and his breath get caught in his throat. Mind looked amazing. He also looked, Fire didn't exactly know how to explain it, he looked good. He was standing taller, and his eyes were smiling.

Mind felt the breath he already didn't have go walk out the door, never to return. He'd missed Fire. But now he really, really, really missed Fire. Without hesitation Mind ran forward and hugged Fire, placing his arms around the Sun's shoulders so as to not disturb Fire's wings.

Oh thank everything good, Fire thought, relieved as could possibly be. Mind  didn't seem mad at him. Mind didn't seem mad at him! Fire could have done a backflip from excitement if not for Mind hugging him so tightly. Not that he was at all mad about that. Instead, Fire wrapped his own arms around the Shadow and pulled the guy closer.

Mind buried his head in Fire's jacket and began to speak, the words rolling from his head almost faster than he could think. I didn't mean it, Mind said, trying to keep the words steady, but failing. I didn't want you to leave. I just thought you had to, but you didn't! Please can we be friends again? I miss you so much.

Fire was very confused. Mind was talking like the Shadow wasn't mad about Fire calling him practically evil. It was almost like Mind had told Fire to leave for other reasons. But I thought you were going to turn on me because of Cold. How are you just forgiving me for that? Fire wondered, incredulous.

Mind scrunched up his brow as he tried to remember what Fire was talking about. Oh right, Fire had worried that Mind was just going to turn evil on him and was working with Cold. Probably not an unfounded fear, considering the Sun's past with his counterpart. But, at the same time, Mind knew now it really was just Fire panicking. Fire, Mind began, not sure how to say "I forgive you", I guess, just, it's okay? You were panicking.

But I didn't trust you! Fire practically screamed. Mind winced a bit at the loud volume of Fire's thoughts, but he hoped the Sun didn't see. Fire didn't need to feel more guilty about anything right now.

Fire looked down as Mind looked up from where the Shadow's face had been buried in the Sun's jacket. Fire's friend's face was so honest, it almost made Fire's heart stop. Well, Mind began. Do you trust me now?

Fire didn't even have to think about the answer for it to be the truth. I trust you, he began, I promise.

Fire felt his heart soar as Mind grinned. It was such a pretty smile, and it was adorable how Mind's eyes lit up as well. Fire could just watch his friend smile for all eternity. Vaguely, he noticed Mind speaking, but Fire was too captivated by Mind to really focus on the words. And the Shadow's eyes, and-

AW FUDGE YOU WATER! Fire shouted in his head.

Okay so, it starts out with Fire panicking about Mind knowing Cold and accusing Mind of trying to take Fire down. This is because Fire is still paranoid about Cold from when the latter attacked him out of nowhere. Then Mind paniks and it leads to him telling Fire to leave because thinks he doesn't need anyone but Cold. Which is false. So then both of them have a cry fest and Water find's out Mind's name, but not that Mind is a Shadow. Mind gets a rose made of ice from Cold and FINALLY realizes that he's feeling too much pressure from her and isn't happy. But that he's happy around Fire, even if he doesn't know what that means. The two make up and Fire finally realizes that he has a crush on Mind. Even if he's annoyed that Water was right.

Well I'm glad I'm somewhat done with torturing Mind. I did get a little teary-eyed as I wrote him realizing that he wasn't happy with Cold.

Thanks for waiting the extra week for this, I hope it was a triumphant return.

Sincerely, Grayvere.
