Barely a few moments earlier
How were they losing? Rock's Snakes had numbers. They were trained. They were determined. So why was his group of mask-wearing suns being pushed back? Why were they being trapped and cornered by Light? After all, at any given time, it was ten on one against the sun's farce of a leader. Was the gleaming dragon really that powerful?
Gritting his teeth, Rock growled to himself. Currently, he was hiding behind a bunch of, well, rocks, like a coward. But he didn't have a better plan! Crouched next to him was Flag, his sort of unofficial second in command, who also seemed confused.
Eyes frantic, Flag begged, "Please tell me you have a plan?" he asked desperately. Rock shook his head sadly. There was nothing he could say. His plan had been chaos, to take everyone by surprise. He hadn't been expecting the other suns to be able to put up a resistance. Could he have trained the Snakes more? It hadn't seemed necessary, after all none of the suns had seen any form of combat, save the Nexus Forces. So if Rock's side had even a bit of ability, they should be able to win with numbers.
But that wasn't what had happened. More suns than Rock had been expecting stepped up to face them. They were all the ones who had powers that came in quite handy, too. Spirit's ability to find anyone, behind any cover. Gold, turning any weapon that the Snakes scrounged up to soft metal that bent if you looked at it. Song who sent out waves of, well, song at everyone keeping them back.
Maybe the reason all of the most powerful suns were fighting back was because they knew they were strong enough to. Maybe because they'd received counseling on how to deal with their powers, that led to them being able to fight so well. It didn't really matter. All Rock cared about was how to fight back. How to make up for his underestimation of everyone.
It wasn't even the normal suns who were the worst problem, believe it or not. No, that was Light. The very same one Rock had started this campaign to bring down, suddenly showing his ability. His arrival in the marketplace had enthused the suns, putting wind into their sails. The gleaming dragon had also coordinated many of those who were fighting back and those running away.
It was terrifying. Even more than it was a nuisance, it made Rock question everything. Had he and his partner in crime, the sun whose name he still didn't know, been wrong? Had they acted rashly against Light? That terrified Rock, the thought that he could have messed up so much, and all the consequences he was bringing to himself and the Snakes.
Gritting his teeth, Rock realized that there was nothing else he could do but fight now. Maybe there was still a chance of coming out victorious. He looked at Flag. "Change of plans," He said quickly, rushing through his words so that he had time to say them. "We all attack Light together, and I go around the back to take him by surprise."
The look on Flag's face was skeptical. "Is that really going to work?" He asked tentatively. Rock almost laughed. This was not the time to be skeptical. This was the time to use whatever ideas they had in their head to hopefully not lose.
But even Rock knew that the plan probably wasn't going to work. Either way, he was still going to try. He wasn't going to give up yet. Without bothering to give Flag an answer, Rock jumped up on top of the temporary shelter he'd made. "Everyone!" The Snake's leader shouted. Eyes turned to him. Both those of the normal suns, and those of his Snakes. Taking a breath, Rock looked Light straight in the eyes. The leader of the suns had a bit of smoke coming out of his nostrils, and a vicious appearance. But he was still just one person. One terrifying dragon person who was a lot more competent than Rock had expected.
Raising his head up high, Rock followed through on his words. "Snakes, we may have been taken aback by their resistance. However, we are still better trained, more powerful, and more committed! Now, let's simply focus on what we all came here for. GET LIGHT!"
