Bel looked up at the sky. Without a cloud in the sky, it was a perfect and beautiful shade of blue, gleaming darker than sky blue, but not quite as dim as at night. Just a perfect blue, shaded with as much depth as the ocean. It was funny, though, how the sky was basically a one-way mirror. At least, during the day. If someone was out in the universe, looking at Earth, they could see down to the planet. But all any Earthling could see while the sun shined was blue. Enough to blue to make you think it when or forever if you didn't know any better.
As cool wind blew through the park, causing the grass to softly rustle. Even though the sound was quiet, it was enough to turn Bel's gaze downward again. The park was beautiful. It was located along the edge of the small town that Bel and Jamie went to school in. Even though it was definitely small, only a couple miles wide, De Amor y Muerte was much calmer and much closer to his house than Es Un Libro. Bel had been on multiple occasions, but the large city an hour away from the Snake Pit in the opposite direction from his house was just too out of the way.
Plus, this was the park Bel had always gone to. Back when he was a tween, he'd hung out here after school for a half hour or so, doing homework or blading as, back then, he and Jamie hadn't been allowed to walk through the jungle without adult supervision. Usually an adult who could either light himself on fire or control what you see and think. So, Bel and Jamie would wait for one or both of the eternal lovers to pick them up and walk them to the Snake Pit.
With sentimental value, the fact that it was closer to Bel, and that he knew Parque Park wasn't ever crowded, he'd chosen this spot for his battle with the Masked Blader. Thankfully she either knew where it was or knew how to use a map.
Are you nervous? Belfyre asked out of the blue, because apparently Bel's thoughts weren't very interesting to eavesdrop on right now and Belfyre was bored. Bel sighed, and looked a Strix who was sitting next to him. The owl didn't share information about how his thoughts were uninteresting. He was thinking about the sky being a mirror. That had to be interesting! Yeah, to a philosopher. Not me. Belfyre snarked.
Yeah, well it's interesting to me! Bel snarked back, crossing his arms to show he was mad. Even though he wasn't really upset with Belfyre, just kind of annoyed with the bey. Because the sky was fascinating, and no one could convince him otherwise.
Okay, Mr. Philosoph-
"Bel Diazora," A commanding voice spoke, announcing someone's presence and interrupting Belfyre. Bel twisted his torso, looking behind him in the direction that the words came from. Not that he needed to know who spoke, it was obvious, what he saw simply confirmed it. The Masked Blader was standing a couple of meters (yards) away, her cape swaying in the wind.
Bel's expression grew serious, and he stood up from where he'd been sitting on a wooden bench, facing the bey stadium. He felt power begin to pool in his body, and a pink, gold, and black glow surrounded him. He stared down the Masked Blader, staring into her teal-covered eyes. "Masked Blader," Bel practically growled. Strix flew up into the air, hooting happily at seeing her original owner. While Bel was no longer jovial, as excited as he was for the battle. He had become alert, ready for anything. Judging by the Masked Blader's stance, she was the same way.
"Are you ready for our battle?" The Masked Blader asked calmly. She began walking forward slowly, making each step deliberate on purpose. She was trying to spook Bel, or at least put him on edge. He wasn't sure if it was working or not. On the one hand, the way his opponent was walking was a little bit unnerving. On the other hand, nothing was ever going to be as terrifying as that time his dad had tried to make a goat costume and ended up looking like a demon.
