Year 3 - Catch Up To You

"Does it hurt terribly Draco?" A kid at the Slytherin table said. 

"It comes and it goes still I consider myself lucky. According to Ms. Ponfrey another week and I could have lost my arm. Couldn't possibly do any homework," Draco said as I gave him a disapproving look. 

"Listen to the idiot. Really laying it on thick, isn't he?" Ron said.

"Yeah, but at least Hagrid did not get fired?" I said.

"Yes, but I heard that Draco's father is furious. We haven't had the end of this," Hermione said.

"It's the Malfoys the end is never the end with them, they will stop at nothing to get what they want," I said.

"He has been sighted! He has been sighted!" Seamus said running in with a Daily Profit. 

"Who?" Hermione said.

"Who do you think, Sirius Black!" I said.

"Dufftown? That's not far from here," Hermione said reading the paper. 

"You don't think he will come to Hogwarts? Do you?" A kid said.

"What with Dementors at every entrance," Dean said.

"The Dementors...He has already slipped past them once, hasn't he? Who's to say he won't do it again," Seamus said.  

"That's right. Black could be anywhere. It's like trying to catch smoke. Like trying to catch smoke with your bare hands," Another kid said.

After the reality shock that Sirius Black may actually make it into Hogwarts confirming that nowhere is truly safe we had our first DADA class. In the past I hadn't given these classes much thought mainly because I already knew enough to defend myself against most enemies and the teacher. But things were different this year as after his display on the train Lupin clearly knew what he was doing and like he could actually teach us something. We all stood in the room with a wardrobe in the centre as it rocked and shook violently as something inside tried to get out.

"Intriguing, isn't it? Would anyone like to venture a guess... as to what is inside?" Lupin said.

"That's a boggart," I said.

"Very good, Mr. L/N. Now, can anybody tell me what a boggart looks like?" Lupin said.

"No one knows," Hermione said as others turned only now realising she was there all except me.

"When did she get here?" Ron said.

"Boggarts are shape-shifters. They take the shape of whatever a person fears the most. That's what makes them so..." Hermione said Lupin finishing for her.

"So terrifying, yes, yes, yes... Luckily, a very simple charm exists to repel a boggart. Let's practice it now. Without wands, please," Lupin said as we reached for our wands.

"After me. Riddikulus!" Lupin said.

"Riddikulus!" We all repeated.

"Very good. A little louder and very clear. Listen Riddikulus!" Lupin said.

"Riddikulus!" We repeated again.

"Very good. So much for the easy part. You see, the incantation alone is not enough," Lupin said.

"Dose anyone know what can finish off a boggart," Lupin asked.

"It's laughter to get rid of a boggart you need to force it to assume a shape you find truly amusing," I said.

"Correct again Mr L/N ten points to Gryffindor. Now Let me explain. Neville, would you join me, please? Come on, don't be shy. Come on. Come on. Hello. Neville, what frightens you most of all?" Lupin asked and Neville mumbled something.

"Sorry?" Lupin said.

"Professor Snape," Neville said and we all had a laugh.

"Professor Snape. Yes, frightens all," Lupin said chuckling.

"So where were you," I asked Hermione referring to her use of the Time-Turner.

"Just an extra charms class," Hermione said.

"Really didn't think someone like you would need extra charms class," I said.

"Well, I'm not doing it because I need to more because I am trying to catch up to you," Hermione said.

"Catch up?" I said.

"You are a third-year like us but you have far more skill and abilities than that of some 4th years," Hermione said. 

"Hey just can I do a few things doesn't mean that you have to be able to do the same I mean we're friends anything you can't do now will only mean that you will learn it in the future and as your friend I will always be around to help you out and watch you back," I said.

"I know but I want to be able you watch your back as well like you said we are friends so we look out for each other we both help one another," Hermoine said. 

"Then how about I'll give you a hand with spells and you help me with anything academic," I said.

"Deal," Hermione said.
