"Harry. There you are. Oh I see you brought Y/N with you," Lupin said.

"I would have gone to McGonagall but I have a feeling she would disprove," I said.

"Why is that?" Lupin said.

"You believe in a far more practical approach to learning magic," I said.

"Fair enough now are you sure about this, this is very advanced magic... well beyond the Ordinary Wizarding Level," Lupin said.

"I'm sure," Harry said as I nodded.

"Well, everything's prepared. The spell I'm going to teach you is called the Patronus Charm. Did you ever hear of it?"

"No?" Harry said.

"Yes," I said.

"Do know what it is," Lupin said.

"A Patronus is like a positive force. For the wizard who conjures one... it works like a shield, with the dementor feeding on it rather than him," I said.

"Correct well done well done indeed. But in order for it to work, you need to think of a memory. Not just any memory, a very happy memory, a very powerful memory. Can you do this?," Lupin said.

"Yes," We both said.

"Very well. Close your eyes. Concentrate. Explore your past. Do you have a memory?," Lupin asked and I nodded.

"Allow it to fill you up. Lose yourself within it. Then speak the incantation, Expecto Patronum," Lupin said.

"Expecto Patronum," We both said.

"Very good, shall we? Wands at the ready," Lupin said.

"Expecto Patronum!" Harry said but nothing happened he tried a few more times before I stepped in.

"EXPECTO PATRONUM," I said and a second later a ball of light appeared from my wand and then expanded forcing the dementor back.

I lowered my wand as the Patronus pushed the dementor back into the chest as Lupin smiled and laughed in admiration at my success.

"Well done, Y/N. Well done!" Lupin said closing the chest.

"I think I've had enough for today," I said feeling worn out.

"Yes. Sit down. Here. Eat this, it helps. It really helps," Lupin said handing me some chocolate.

"And just so you know, Y/N I think you will be quite the wizard very soon," Lupin said.

"Beautiful day," Hermione said as we went to Hagrid to hear how the trial went.

"Gorgeous. Unless you've been ripped to pieces!" Ron said.

"Ripped to pieces? What are you talking about?" Harry said.

"Ronald has lost his rat," I said.

"I haven't lost anything! Hermione's bloody cat killed him!" Ron said.

"Rubbish," Hermione said.

"How long have you had that rat by the way," I said.

"He has been in my family for 12 years," Ron said.

"That's a long time," I said to myself.

"Harry, you've seen the way that bloodthirsty beast of hers looks at him... is always lurking about. And Scabbers is gone," Ron said.

"Well, maybe you should take better care of your pets!" I said.

"Her cat killed him!"Ron said.

"Did not," Hermione said.

"Did," Ron said.

"Didn't," Hermione said as they continued until we got to Hagrid.

"How did it go, Hagrid? The hearing?" I asked.

"Well, first off, the committee members took turns... talking about why we were there," Hagrid said.

"How many times could they possibly need to say it," I said.

"I got up and did my piece. Said how Buckbeak... was a good hippogriff, always cleaned his feathers. And then Lucius Malfoy got up. Well, you can imagine. He said Buckbeak was a deadly and dangerous creature... who would kill you as soon as look at you," Hagrid said.

"That short sighted ass," I said.

"And then?" Hermione said.

"And then he asked for the worst, did old Lucius," Hagrid said.

"They're not sacking you!" Ron said.

"No, I'm not sacked, Buckbeak's been sentenced to death!" Hagrid said as Hermione and I shared a look.

"Can't believe they would do such a thing," Hermione said pacing back and forth in the common room later that night.

"What can we do the trial has already run its course," I said.

"Why aren't you more upset," Hermione said.

"Believe Hermione I am but this is different than it was in the past in the past we have just broken some school rules but this if we interfere then we will be interfering with the law it's not the same," I said.

"Yeah I guess your right," Hermione said with a sad sigh.

"Hey come here," I said pulling her down next to me and hugging her.

"I just don't like doing nothing when something is so clearly wrong," Hermione said.

"I know," I said rubbing her arm.

"Please don't go anywhere," Hermione said.

"I'm never leaving you," I said.

"No I mean now just stay here at least until I fall asleep," Hermione said.

"Okay," I said.

"Thank you for being here," Hermione said.
