More Than Magic (Hermione x Male reader)

Year 5 - DA

It was a few days later and we were all outside as Umbridge was kicking out Professor Trelawney and no she did not have a reason.

"Sixteen years I've lived and taught here. Hogwarts is my home. You can't do this," Professor Trelawney said crying.

"Actually, I can," Umbridge said holding up a piece of paper I momentarily considered turning to ash.

"Something you'd like to say?" Umbridge said as McGonagall came to comfort Trelawney

"Oh, there are several things I would like to say. There... there,"  McGonagall said rubbing her back.

"Professor McGonagall, might I ask you to escort Sybil back inside?" Dumbledore said.

"Sybil, dear. This way," McGonagall said.

"Thank you," Trelawney said as she walked with McGonagall passed Dumbledore.

"Dumbledore, may I remind you that under the terms of Educational Decree Number..." Umbridge said but was cut off.

"You have the right to dismiss my teachers. You do not, however, have the authority to banish them from the grounds. That power remains with the headmaster," Dumbledore said showing her who's boss.

"For now," Umbridge said ominously.

"Don't you all have studying to do?" Dumbledore said as we all left.

"That foul, evil, old gargoyle. We're not learning how to defend ourselves. We're not learning how to pass our OWLs. She's taking over the entire school," Hermione said as the four of us were in the common room alone.

"Security has been and will remain the Ministry's top priority. Furthermore, we have convincing evidence that these disappearances are the work of notorious mass murderer Sirius Black," Said the radio as I turned it up.

"Harry," Said Sirius from the fireplace.

"Sirius. What are you doing here?" Harry said.

"Answering your letter," Sirius said like it was obvious.

"You said you were worried about Umbridge. What's she doing? Training you to kill half-breeds?" Sirius said.

"She's not letting us use magic at all," I said.

"Well, I'm not surprised. The latest intelligence is that Fudge doesn't want you trained in combat," Sirius said.

"Combat?" I said.

"What does he think, we're forming some sort of wizard army?" Ron said.

"That's exactly what he thinks. That Dumbledore is assembling his own forces to take on the Ministry. He's becoming more paranoid by the minute. The others wouldn't want me telling you this, Harry but things aren't going at all well with the Order. Fudge is blocking the truth at every turn and these disappearances," Sirius said.

"Are how it started last time," I said.

"Yes," Sirius said grimly.

"Voldemort is on the move," Sirius said.

"Well, what can we do?" Ron asked.

"Someone's coming. I'm sorry I can't be of more help. But for now, at least, it looks like you're on your own," Sirius said before his face disappeared from the flame.

"He really is out there, isn't he. We've got to be able to defend ourselves. And if Umbridge refuses to teach us how, we need someone who will," Hermione said as they looked at me.

"Oh hell no you know this is a bad idea," I said.

"Y/N out of the 4 of us you are the most skilled at magic," Hermione said.

"I am also the most hated out of the 4 of us no one will even listen to me, Harry is the better choice," I said.

"How about this Harry can teach and you can assist him but really you will do all the demonstration," Hermione said.

"Sounds better than me teaching alone," I said now turning to Harry.

"This is mad. Who'd wanna be taught by me? I'm a nutter, remember?" Harry said.

"Look on the bright side, you can't be any worse than old toad face.

"Thanks, Ron," Harry said.

"I'm here for you, mate," Ron said.

"Who's supposed to be meeting us, then?" I said.

"Just a couple of people," Hermione said.

"Lovely spot," Ron said as we arrived at the Hog's head. 

"Thought it would be safer off the beaten track," Hermione said.

We walked up to the top and saw a bunch of people many from our house still feeling like an outsider I just stood by the doorway not looking at anyone. 

"Hi. So you all know why we're here. We need a teacher. A proper teacher. One who's had experience defending themselves against the Dark Arts," Hemione said standing up.

"Why?" I random kid said.

"Why? Because You-Know-Who's back, you tosspot," Ron said.

"So they say," He said.

"So Dumbledore says," Hermione said. 

 "So Dumbledore says because he says? The point is where's the proof? Perhaps if Potter could tell us more about how L/N got killed as he claims," The kid said back.

 "I'll tell you, the cup was a portkey it took us to a graveyard where we witnessed Voldemort come back after I was killed a piece of old lost magic brought me back but if you are just hear me talk about the forget it he is back and he is dangerous you can learn to defend your self or roll over and die," I said.  

"Come on Hermione, they just think I'm some kind of freak," Harry said after the silence.

"Is it true you can produce a Patronus?" Luna asked.

"Yes, I've seen it, Just like Y/N can," Hermione said. 

"Blimey I didn't know you could do that," A kid said.

"In his third year, he fought off a hundred dementors on his own," Ron said.

"And he killed a basilisk with the sword in Dumbledore's office," Neville said.

"Actually that was Y/N he killed it,"

"And last year he really did fight who went to the flesh, both of them did," Hermione said.

"Wait. Those sound great when you say it like that, but...ln fact, I was just lucky I didn't know what I was doing half of the time I nearly always had help," Harry said.

"He's just being modest," Hermione said.

"No, Hermione, I'm not. Facing this stuff in real life isn't like in school in school if you make a mistake you can try just try again tomorrow. But out there when you're a second away from being murdered or watching a friend die right before your eyes. You don't know what that's like," Harry said.

"You're right, Harry, we don't. That's why we need your help because if we have any hope of beating...Voldermort we need help," Hermione said.

"He's really back isn't he?" A kid said.

After that, all kids present signed up and my public opinion had increased positively in some way but not as much as I hoped it would.
