AUTHOR'S NOTE: Looked at the video again... why do I look so fat on camera? Also I added model pictures of Ms. Nadine and Mike (the Master Genie) on chapter 37 if you're interested.
CHAPTER 39
Tracy showed Tu and his Other Half, Ebanee, to a room. Skylar had warned Tracy and the others only thirty minutes before the guests arrived. Kings Athens was also on his way but would be staying with Shula at their home nearby until the rest of the "guests" joined them.
When asked if more guests would be joining them, Skylar held up five fingers and counted down to one before pointing at the phone. Lucy informed Salim that she and Mido were coming back along with their daughters, Zuri and Zara.
"Anyone else?" Dayton asked Skylar.
"Not at the moment but sides are being chosen and we are going to be overrun with guests. So better get the welcome mat dusted. Also tell Solomon Grey that you need him to come immediately for an emergency meeting." She pulled out several maps and laid them on the floor. With a red marker, Skylar drew lines and markings.
"Pack territories are going to have to be redrawn. Some packs are not going to want to join the fight while others intend to give aid to the other side. Indigo Sky Pack and the Rouge Lands are the most vulnerable."
"There aren't any buffers." Dayton pointed out.
"Once the Plan is in motion, there won't be any humans to hide from or worry about so all the territories need to be expanded to look after nearby cities and towns. Major cities will need to be taken over by the local rogues since they are the most familiar with the layouts."
"How can we trust the rogues?" Salim asked but regretted the question when he felt his mate heartrate spike. He had used the status of rogue against her as an excuse to find another mate. He and Dayton immediately wrapped an arm around Carrie for comfort.
"They get things done especially when dealing with lawlessness. The rogues also self-police. They have no qualms with preforming corporal punishment on sever offenders. They maintain order to keep the packs and hunters away. Dameon Wilde will speak to and for them. The wolves trust him and the rogue vampires will support him because they like his queen." Skylar suddenly stood. Taking a deep breath, she looked around the room. "Brace yourselves."
All the werewolves in the room suddenly felt a searing pain shoot through their entire beings. Grunts and curses filled the air and Tracy held onto Jonathan in alarm. "What's happening?" she yelled at Skylar as deep sorrow wrapped around her heart and Eli's mournful howl was heard through the link.
"The Alpha King and his mate are dead." Skylar said. "The other side has just gained a powerful ally. I'm going to in my room for the next three hours. No one bother me. Oh, by the way, we're going to need more rooms."
--------------------
King Athens arrived in Cub Creek. The feeling of grief was so thick you could almost taste it. Hurrying into the Pack House he asked Mrs. Whitman, who had opened the door, what had happened. She informed him that there had been an attack on the High Council. The Alpha King, Victor Vale, and his mate, Luna Queen Naomi, were dead as were many high-ranking officials.
Alpha Dayton Mason approached him. "Good evening, Sir. We have just received some disturbing news, as you've heard, and will hold a meeting as soon as Lucy and Mido return. They should be here this evening. Please come to the conference room at 7."
"Of course." Athens said.
Leaving pack lands, the Dark Fairy went to the familiar house that had been his home for the last few decades.
"DADDY!" Shula screamed when she saw him and leaped into his arms.
He hugged her tightly, savoring her familiar scent and warmth of her embrace. "I've missed you so much, daughter." He looked her over from head to toe. "I'm glad to see that you're well."
A beep caught their attention, Athens watched curiously as Shula's cheeks turn pink and she quickly turned her phone off. He raised a brow.
"It's nothing." She mumbled with a guilty look.
Athens chuckled. Shula was so bad at lying and hiding things but he decided to leave it alone for now. Besides he already knew that she was texting Firelight. The Sprite had left his phone on the dining room table one evening and Athens had picked it up to return it. A message from "My Beautiful Love" came through the notifications with part of a rather scandalous text. It caught him off guard and he hadn't intended to read it.
Angry, he confronted Firelight only to be shown a very familiar number. Athens wanted so bad to scrub his brain and erase the memory when he realized he wasn't the only man his little girl called "Daddy." Athens shivered in disgust at the thought.
"I wasn't expecting you until later." She said as she set a pot onto the stove.
"The meeting was delayed due to the deaths of Victor and Naomi Vale." He said as the most recent development weighted heavily on his mind.
"I heard what happened. No one knows anything specific. The palace where the High Council conducted their business was destroyed." Shula informed him.
"Lord and Lady Thorne?"
"I don't know. Tracy said she would let me know when she finds out anything. I just told Firelight about the attack. He's going to tell his aunt now."
"You have his number?" Athens asked neutrally.
Shula sputtered a bit as a dark blush stained her cheeks.
"I have yet to forgive him for locking you in the dungeon for five years."
"He didn't mean to." Shula defended her Other Half. "Well, he did. But you know that he is cursed."
"I know." Athens said cupping her small face in his large hands. "And that is what I want you to remember. You're falling in a hopeless love. Until there is a way to break the spell, you can't be with him. He'll destroy you."
"We know." She said with tears in her eyes. "But if this is all we can have, then I would rather have this than nothing at all."
Athens placed a gentle kiss on her forehead and hugged her to his chest. As a parent, it broke his heart to watch his child have to pick up whatever crumbs of love she could find with her Other Half. It strengthened his resolve.
He was going to capture a witch.
===================================
I am still struggling to get back into writing mode. Huge block going on. I need to seriously regroup a bit. I can't promise to post on a regular schedule again because I haven't had much time to write. My daughter just got back from running camp and I've taken this last week to get everyone's rooms together before they go back to school next Monday. Got a lot of stuff to get together still. So thanks for understanding and I'll do my best to post on Tuesday.
