CHAPTER 61
"Mother, Catori is innocent. You know this. You know her." Ishmael said when Lady Vita Thorne, representative for fairy and sprite kind, informed him over the phone.
"I thought I knew her parents." Vita responded. "Well, I'm glad that at least you have some faith in her. You were always so mean to her though I never knew why. Thank goodness you eventually grew out of that."
Ishmael said nothing.
Vita sighed. "Your father and I are trying to help Barak rebuild so you need to go as a representative for us. Queen Susannah, Barak's mate, will be there as well."
"I'll be there."
Throwing his cell phone carelessly on the bed, Ishmael looked out of his villa window at the white sandy beaches. He loved the surf and sea, his sun-bleached blonde hair, lean muscular body, and golden tan were testament of his dedication to the tropics.

He never got along with Catori like he did Victor then later, Victor's son, Barak, and Hadassah. The witch loved cold cloudy days and would rather read than pursue athletics, social atmospheres, or, in more modern times, binge watch tv or video games. Her passion was in helping others and she often left the High Council's palace to go on mission trips.
In other words, she was a "goody two shoes" and no fun at all. But given the type of person she was, and if he were honest, who her father was, he very much doubted that either were capable of treason. Her mother, the former High Priestess, Tiana, was always a sketchy one. But then again, witches in general were reclusive and not very forthcoming with plans or information so they always appeared to be dubious in their endeavors.
But one memory kept running through his mind, haunting his dreams.

"Why the hell are we both going?" Ishmael complained as he kicked the seat. He hated airplanes and his father's insistence that he occasionally take their private plane instead of the faster portals to travel.
Catori remained unruffled as always and calmly laid the book she was reading on her lap. "The reports of magic being used either come from a young witch or wizard who doesn't know how to control their magic or an older Sprite who has a vendetta. Either way the risk of exposure to humans is growing and needs to be contained. We are the future representatives for both of our kinds so it only makes sense that we were both dispatched for this mission."
