CHAPTER 59
Green Farm...
Athens drank a glass of scotch as he blankly stared out the window. He had taken Evangeline back to the Sprite Kingdom. The girl needed to rest and let her heart heal. What she decided to do with Lord James was something she would have to work out on her own. From watching his own daughter, he knew that there was nothing he could say. Time and space was what the young sprite needed for now.
Looking for his queen, Athens had walked in on his Other Half having tea with her former "husband." Jealousy had flared and his reaction had sparked a huge argument. When the demon, Atticus, tried to intervene and explain that they were doing nothing more than drinking tea and having a friendly chat. Athens exploded and punched Atticus in the face.
Angry, Rosa personally threw him out of her parlor and now he was sulking in his study at his former home. He knew that Rosa would never cheat on him but he couldn't help but feel angry at seeing her laugh at something the man she had formerly loved had said. He sorely regretted freeing Atticus from hell. Perhaps he should figure out a way to send him back.
Cradle of Life...
Warren Garner sat back in his chair as he listened to Phillip Jarman's request. Phil had no idea what the Hunter's Councilman was thinking but still pressed on with the agreed upon pitch.
"These times," Garner said. "Are unlike anything that has happened in recent history. The victor has yet to be determined and there are powerful players on both sides. Unfortunately for your side, the Born Hunters will be more of a hinderance than a help. Your generation is one of the last that dealt in the old ways. These new Hunters are soldiers with the 'righteous' ideology that supernatural beings must be cleansed from this world. You will find no help here."
"But what if you, a councilman and leader, told them the truth?"
"They would become lost children whose trust had been broken and there will be no authority that they will respond to. Indoctrination is a powerful thing. The biggest lie is freedom and the worse response comes from exposing the truth. In order to maintain power, history is forged not from the past but the political lies from the present and then there are distractions keep everyone from seeking the truth."
"But-"
"I cannot help you."
Phil stared hard to the cold eyes of the man before him before sighing in defeat. He stood and walked to the door.

Green Farm...
Abram was slightly sore from JJ's rough handling, as he made his way to the house that King Athens had made his home before he found his Other Half, the Sprite Queen, Rosa. King Athens' daughter, Shula, still stayed in the house and trekked back and forth assisting with the sacred garden that he and his mates tended.
The door was open and Shula greeted him with a smile which turned sympathetic as he limped inside.
"JJ?" she asked.
"Of course." He answered with a grin that turned into a grimace.
"My father is in his office. Straight back, to the left."
"Thank you." Abram said as he followed the directions.
Peering inside the green room, he nodded in greeting as Athens' eyes met his own.
"Please, have a seat." The Sprite King said as he stood and walked to the overstuffed chair matching the one that he had indicated. The men settled into the perspective chairs.
