CHAPTER 40
High Council Court...
Darius Manassah walked among the rubble searching the destruction for any survivors. Lady Vita Thorne walked by his side. Her Other Half had been injured during the explosion. They had been holding court when there was an uproar outside. The doors had burst open and two werewolves and a vampire burst into the large chamber. Bombs were strapped to their chest and a white light was all that Lady Vita saw before waking up beneath her husband, Lord Iskhur Thorne. Guards carried them to the healers.
Lady Thorne was released soon after arriving to make way for the more seriously injured. She was thankful that her Other Half would be fine, he just needed a bit longer to heal, and that their son and heir was not present in court that day. She called their daughter, Priscilla, and of course the Sprite Queen, Rosa. Afterwards she was at a loss of what to do. She volunteered to help. Seeing a young werewolf girl calling for her father brought Lady Vita back to the place that she had spent so many years helping Supernatural kind.
Perhaps they had spent too much time here. She hadn't really left to see the world in decades. The words of the Protector, Tracy Mason, hit hard. They as a Council were out of touch with the world but they chose to ignore it. Now the world was coming to them and the idea that they were safe had been vanquished. She was relieved to see a familiar face in all this destruction and greeted former king, Darius.
Together they walked through the mess and helped those they could. Vita was relieved when she helped the little girl find her father who had been frantically searching for the child. The wails and screams of men and women finding their loved ones' bodies filled the air and Lady Thorne wept with them.
King Hussein and his Beloved, Queen Octavia, arrived from having taken the day off. The vampire couple immediately took charge of aid and restoration. They called all of the nearby covens to help. Lady Thorne assured them that the Sprite Queen was sending healers and workers to lend a hand.
"But where do we go?" Vita asked. "All of our estates are compromised. If they were able to somehow come into this court then we don't stand a chance alone."
King Hussein hesitated. The Lady Thorne, who represented all of Fairy Kind, had a point. One of his men reported that the intruders were aiming to enter the prison but when their way was blocked, they entered the main court instead. He had no doubt that the attackers were searching for his prisoner, Rian de Paor. Fortunately, his daughter's guard had found and captured him before they made an emergency trip to Romania.
"We must regroup and go to see the Protector. Our heirs need to leave us and go far away in case something happens to us." Vampire High King said.
Lady Vita nodded.
A vampire, sprite, werewolf guards knelt before the group.
"Speak." King Hussein ordered.
"You Majesty," the vampire guard spoke up. "The Alpha King and Luna Queen are both dead. We witnessed their deaths, their... execution." The man swallowed as tears streaked down his face. "High Priestess Tatiana and Sorcerer Uriah, representatives for the witch and warlock kind were responsible for their deaths."
The women gasped in shock and the men roared in anger. "They have betrayed us all! Find their daughter and bring her to me!" King Hussein ordered. Queen Octavia wrapped her arms around her husband sharing his grief.
"I don't believe Catori had anything to do with this." Lady Vita said defending the young woman. Catori was a very powerful witch and only used her gifts to do good. While her mother, Tatiana, would use her magic for simple everyday tasks, Catori believed in hard work and not taking the easy way out. She was much like her father, Uriah.
