CHAPTER 43
Cub Creek Territory...
Asya and Night walked around the empty halls of the pack house aimlessly as they waited for the meeting to resume. They were close together but careful not to touch. Layla, Asya's fox, sat quietly in her human's mind simply watching and enjoying her mate's presence.
"Do you-" Night began hesitantly as they both stopped and turned to each other. The fact that Asya was within reach was a huge victory. He was terrified of saying the wrong thing and driving her away. But he wanted to know if she would ever forgive him. "Do you think you will ever write that letter?" he asked referring to the time he told her to let him know that she forgave him even if it were just in a note.
Tears sprang into her eyes, Asya shook her head, "I wrote it so many times but ended up tearing it up and throwing it away."
"Why?"
"I'm scared of so many things. I don't know if I'll ever be fixed enough to be a good mate. It's not just us, Ander deserves a good mother. I don't-" she paused and took a deep breath. "I don't know if I can take on that role."
"You're the bravest person I know. I don't need you to be 'fixed' I want you just as you are and we'll figure things out together. As much as I regret the past, I love my son. He is a part of me. You," he lifted her chin to look into her beautiful amber eyes. "Complete me."
Tears trickled down her cheeks as Night leaned forward and placed a gentle kiss on her soft lips.
Night pulled away and wiped away the wet trails from her face. "I don't deserve a chance, but I won't stop fighting for us."
Meeting Continued... (Dang it... Ugh!)
"Apologies." King Hussein said as he rejoined everyone in the conference room. "My daughter and her Beloved will look for this Soren Petrov. She will inform us when he is found."
"They'll be here in two days." Skylar said. She looked over at the Sprite King. "You can start the spell right after."
"Just like that?" Athens asked skeptically.
Skylar growled lightly, "I swear! People just want to be difficult." She grumbled. "You would think that it would be enough to say that I'm a seer and to follow what I say but nooooo. People want explanations. They want to know why? And then they have the nerve to be obstinate with taking directions." The little girl continued her mini rant as she walked over to the closet and pulled out the box which contained her mother's letters.
Plucking up the top envelope, she thrusted it into King Athens' hand with a glared. "Here. Since this is what you've been waiting for."
Athens opened the sealed.
Your Majesty,
I would like to invite you to put the Plan into motion. The Descendants of Job will be joining you soon. Please pass this note to my daughter.
Athens smiled when he saw the bottom of the sheet of paper and handed the letter to the young girl.
Skylar,
Patience, my love.
Skylar sighed when she saw her mother's words. Rubbing two small hands over her face, she felt a familiar presence beside her. Calvin pulled her into a hug. So much expectation was placed on one so young, he couldn't understand the turmoil she must be in, but he was determined to be there for her. His wolf, Hector, purred to comfort the little girl he had accepted as his pup.
"You're doing good, sweetheart." He whispered placing a kiss on her forehead. Skylar hugged the man tightly and was glad to have someone who remembered that she was just a kid who was being forced to save the world. Skylar couldn't let her mother's sacrifice end in vain.
"King Athens." Skylar said standing tall. "You now have the permission of at least two members of the High Council, a member of the Hunter's Council, and the Protector. You may proceed."
The Sprite King nodded. "It'll take at least a few days to begin."
"My mother laid down the groundwork we just have to follow the trail." Skylar said.
"She was a good woman." Remi said. "She saved my life before I was born. I and my mother almost died in childbirth."
Shade stiffened at the boy's mention of her sister. Shadow have ever mentioned this but then again there was a lot of things that she never mentioned.
Skylar spoke again. "We must take down both Prince Grim and Lady Melanie together. It's time to gather all of our allies."

Rogue Lands...
Despite the rays of the warm sun beaming across the room, the Rogue Queen decided to be selfish, for once, and stay in bed cuddling her Beloved. Her heart full joy and love, though her mind was a bit frustrated.
"What about 'Dexter?'"
"No!" Eesha groaned. "We are not! Naming our baby 'Dexter!'"
"Why?" Luke whined.
"Why do you come up with such awful names? She shot back.
"Well, what do you want to name him?"
"IF it's a boy... Quinton Fardeen." She gave him a small sad smile. "After my brothers."
Luke's inner tomcat purred and snuggled closer to her trying to offer comfort. Eesha smiled through the tears and absently stroked his golden locks.
"What about if it's a girl?" Luke asked.
Eesha shrugged. "I don't really remember my mother's name since I was so young."
"What do think about Beatrice? She was a former Luna and an Alpha's mother. She took me in when I was little and accepted me as her own even though I was a cat shifter in the mist of werewolves. She always protected me, and I am forever grateful to her."
Eesha nodded, "Then we shall name our babe after the lady who deserves to be remembered for her kindness."
Luke scooted down the bed and pulled the sheets back, exposing Eesha's still flat stomach. He placed a tender kiss on the smooth flesh. "Hey little one. It's your daddy. I just wanted you to know how much I love you." Leaning forward he kissed his mate, "And I love you mommy."
Eesha laughed as his scruff tickled her as he trailed sweet kisses down her neck.
It had been a long time coming but at last, Eesha felt at peace. What she didn't know was that this peace was about to be shattered.
=================================
I was supposed to publish this last night, but we had a huge storm blow through, and the internet went out. I'm actually amazed about how many readers are still reading this story. You all are awesome!
So, I'm still deciding Eesha's fate. I went in five different directions and I'm still on the fence. What makes things so hard is that all the stories are interconnected and to pick the fate of one is to the limit the scope of the others.
Also, I can't remember who's picture I've added so let me know if I've forgotten to add one, especially if they're new.
