CHAPTER 65

Rogue Lands...

Mona couldn't let Dameon go by himself. Especially when a seer told her to "tell him" before it was too late but didn't provide any specifics. She had a bad feeling and wasn't about to get left behind while he went off to war. She hid herself and dressed as a normal rogue to blend in. Unfortunately, she couldn't just slip away. The strong scent of skunk almost knocked her off her feet as a child who obviously had just come from doing something that they clearly shouldn't have, came barreling past her shouting for his mother. One of the housekeeping staff saw Mona and informed her that there were some important looking people waiting in Dameon's office demanding to speak with someone in charge. Dameon was preparing to leave and Eesha was out with her Beloved, Luke, trying to get extra supplies together for makeshift hospitals on the battle front. A difficult task since they couldn't order new supplies nor could they steal from hospitals since all the human manufacturing companies were down. Mona would have to see what the newcomers wanted.

Her sense of smell had been thrown off by the young boy's skunk related antics. So, seeing the familiar faces was an unexpected shock.

"There you are, you fat bitch!" her mother screamed.

Her father's face was dark cloud as he struck her, knocking her to the ground. "Where the fuck have you been, you whore? You best pray that your virginity is intact because I can't put the wedding off any longer." he hollered. Grabbing her by the hair, he almost ripped out the entire chunk by the roots as he hauled her to her feet.

Grabbing her arm in a bruising hold. Her father dragged Mona out of the room as her mother followed behind. Neither said a word and Mona was dazed from the hit.

"What's all this?" One of the guards demanded near the front doors. Mona recognized him as George Pinter. She processed the paperwork for him to work overtime before his wife was due and then made sure that he had extra time off with pay when the baby came. Paternity leave was not something Dameon ever thought of doing but Mona, with Eesha's support, made sure he signed the papers. Because of that, all the guards and workers held Mona in high respect.

"Mind your own business, rogue!" Ernest Talts growled at the man in his alpha tone.

The man trembled but stood firm. "Nah man. This ain't your pack. This here is Rogue Lands and right now you're fixing to haul off a rogue without showing the proper papers."

"He's an Alpha and don't need to show you shit!" LeWanda, Mona's mother, shrieked at the man.

"High Council made it a law that even Alphas could not arrest or apprehend a rogue who was not trespassing on their lands or had committed a grievous crime without a warrant. Unless you do, then you can't take her anywhere." George said calmly.

Six more guards came forward.

Ernest growled. "This is my daughter and she'll be coming with me."

"I have a daughter now and if you think that I or any man would ever think that they could put their hands on her like you're doing now. They would die. You ain't a father. You're an asshole that's about to be arrested if you don't let her go."

The men all pulled out their stun batons and waited.

The Alpha tightened his grip, making Mona wince before letting go. He stormed off through the exit followed by his wife. Neither spared their injured daughter a glance.

"You alright?" George asked with concern as he gently checked the swelling on the side of her face.

"I will be. Thanks George."
