CHAPTER 50
There is no set place just a drifting through time...
Tracy followed the necklace back to the place where Shade had entered. They stood watching as Ivory White disappeared and Shadow placed the necklace around the pregnant woman's neck.
"We need to follow the necklace before they came here." Shade said. The echoing quality of her voice surprised Tracy as she was not expecting it.
Tracy focused her powers and took them backwards through time following the small piece of jewelry. They followed the necklace through a portal that Ivory White and Shadow had transport themselves. On the opposite side of the portal was a place completely unexpected. A white forest of trees loaded with pale petals surrounded a gleaming marble tower.
"Where are we?" Tracy asked staring in awe of the opulent massive structure.
Shade did not answer immediately. Instead, she walked around the entire circumference. Blood was smeared on the sides. Words written in an unrecognizable language were scrolled along the base.
"If I were to guess," she said finally. "I would say that this is a prison."
Tracy looked at Shade in surprise. "What makes you say that?"
"The lower windows have bars and there are no doors or entrances of any kind. It's completely sealed." Looking upward, Shade shook her head. "We didn't see where they came from but right now my sister is probably talking to the witch. Do you see the necklace?"
Tracy tried to focus but it felt as though her powers were blanketed. "I can't see anything. Can you transport us?"
Shade sighed. "No. It's this place. Magic is weakened and distorted here. I've used magic for far longer than you and even my abilities have been dampened. Let's try to go back further to see if we can pinpoint when Shadow entered this realm."
Tracy braced herself for the unsettling feeling that suddenly washed over her. "I've taken us back five hours. If my sister appears then we can follow her." Shade said tiredly. "If Night was lending me strength. I doubt I would have made it."
"And what if she doesn't?"
"Then we go back further."
"So, we're stuck here for five hours?"
"Time is irrelevant in the past."
Tracy sighed. "I should have brought a book. Wait. What happened to the blood on the sides?"
"Shadow."
The women sat quietly waiting. Forty-five minutes later, a portal opened and Shadow emerged. The pair stood and followed the seer as she walked around the tower. Shadow stopped and stared at something. Unzipping the jacket, she wore; a knife was clasped in her hand.
Shade gasped. "It's the blade she gave Darius." Tears filled her eyes seeing the knife that ended her sister's life.
Shadow cut her palm and then smeared blood on the wall. Tiny symbols, that were impossible to see before, were engraved in the stone. Tracy couldn't make sense of the strange hieroglyphics.
"Any idea of what it says?"
Shade shook her head. "No. I recognize a few symbols but nothing that I can easily translate. Shadow was more of the ancient language person."
