Author's Note: A reader has been in the hospital with a family member. So in addition to my thoughts and prayers I decided to release an extra chapter to read while she's waiting around.
CHAPTER 6
Former Battle Site...
Gideon felt a burning in his chest that had nothing to do with the stake protruding from it. The young vampire Hunter was fortunately inexperienced and stabbed him on the wrong side but the poison on the tip knocked him out. He heard a gurgle and saw Hezekiah Mallory sit up suddenly.
"Damn it. He got my lung." Hezekiah groaned. "Thankfully the poison has worn off and no one tried to remove the stake."
Removing a poisoned stake was usually a bad idea because a vampire will bleed out since the poison is preventing the wound from closing. Their advanced healing will quickly rid them of the poison but those few minutes is all a Hunter needs. Now that their systems mostly were clear the men pulled out the stakes with a grunt.
A strong sense of panic and an overwhelming fear gripped the men.
Turning wide eyes to his fellow vampire, Hezekiah growled, "My Beloved."
"Mine too." Gideon groaned. "Damn it! She's going to be her mother all over."
Both men stumbled to their feet. Ripping off their shirts as they became too tight from their transformation. The change burned but both were determined to find the Eternal Ones. The close proximity allowed them to feel their Beloveds emotions and right now they could feel the girls' fear.
Racing off, following their instincts. They took the distracted Hunters by surprise. Since they had agreed not to kill the Hunters. Gideon and Hezekiah simply fed from them until they passed out as they struggled with their burdens.
Turning to see the young girl staring at him in awe, Gideon felt the bond click and immediately snapped. "Damn it, Aurora! You're supposed to be in a cave safely tucked away. Why the hell are you out here?!"
Breaking from her trance at his harsh words. "Don't you yell at me, mister! And I know you aren't cursing in front of a child!" she growled like she had seen her father do when he was trying to get his point across. "I don't know who you think you are but-"
Tracy raced into the clearing and gathered her daughter into her arms but Aurora pulled away. "One second mom." Aurora said wanting to unleash her fury on the big tall cute meanie who thought he could boss her around. She turned and saw only empty air.
At the border...
Alpha Colin Winters waited outside of the pack borders. They agreed to give aid if needed but so far the Alphas of the Cub Creek Pack have not given the signal. Winters felt it in his gut that something wasn't right. A strange scent up wind from them caught his attention.
"Another pack?" his oldest son, Keelan, asked. He had just arrived to meet up with his father. Keelan had been on a tour of the allied packs to try and find his mate. At 24, both he and his wolf, Donn, were getting anxious to find her.
