Chapter 60

CHAPTER 60

Roger, Lucy, and Lucy's Soulmate, Mido went to the gardens together. Abram's children were playing among the greenery. The crow shifter's mates, GinGin and JJ, were the care takers of the gardens and while a few rogue wolves, sent by Dameon, guarded the perimeter since no pack or coven could lay claim to a sacred site.

Roger had originally started the garden before the other sacred sites were attacked by the witch, Trish, and her Spirit Walkers. GinGin's great grandmother, Luzviminda, had entrusted the very last Life Star to Roger. The Life Star was a special seed that could drain a powerful witch of their magic. It had been used against Ivory White to take away her powers long enough for her capture.

They hoped that it would help them once more. Roger led the way into a small dark chamber that was well hidden from view.

"Wait!" Lucy said.

"What's wrong?" Roger asked.

"The seal to the door has been tampered with." Mido replied as Lucy's hands drifted lightly over the edges of the frame.

"The door is rigged to explode." Lucy said. "And I am not picking up any signatures of magic from within."

"What does that mean?" Roger asked though part of him already knew.

"The Life Star is not within the chamber." Lucy murmured. "We will have to contain the blast. If we do not trigger it now, the door will eventually rot and set off a deadly explosion. Mido and I can handle this. Any evidence, will be destroyed."

"But we placed wards and traps plus how would they get past Abram's wall?"

"It's an inside job." Mido said leaning down to pick up a dead leaf that had been crush. "Can you follow this back and 'see' who stepped on it?"

Roger nodded and took the stem. Walking away to give the two Soulmates space to destroy the bomb, the Born Hunter closed his eyes. A vision of the hidden door was pictured in his mind and he slowly went backwards from there. He was sure how long he kept going back but he paused when he saw a somewhat familiar face that didn't belong in the gardens.

Dr. Kole.

The woman had gone missing a few months ago. No one knew what happened to her. Lee had investigated and found that the doctor had left pack lands alone. But there was no trace of her after that.

Roger watched her unseal the barrier, enter, and then leave the single chamber before tampering with the door to set a bomb.

It made no sense. No one but a select few knew about the seed. Unless it was someone from Ivory White's side who had that knowledge.

The vision ended and Roger couldn't help but worry.

"BUT IT'S NOT FAIR!!!" Kamda shrieked as she stomped her foot.

"Queen Rosa had banned you Sprite lands. Landon is there as her consorts' guest. You will stay here and focus your energy on reading those pregnancy books."

"Fuck you!"

"Bitch, you better not be bothering my mate or I will slap you." Nadine growled as she entered Mike's room.

Kamda gasped. "I'm pregnant!"

"Your face isn't pregnant so don't test me."

Huffing the half genie left the room. Mike sighed and opened his arms for Nadine. Settling on his lap, she breathed in his scent to calm her angry wolf. She absolutely detested the woman, who despite her long life, acted like a spoiled child.

"I apologize for my sister."

"Don't bother apologizing for her, Magic Mike. She needs to take responsibility for her actions. I can't see what Landon saw in her."

Mike sighed. "I guess it's not really his fault. I've lived long enough to be completely jaded but for most beings the sight of an orgy in progress will stir some form of lust. Just a tiny kernel, a passing thought can be manipulated into something dangerous. Kamda loves challenges and no doubt the young man was out of his depth. The mating mark he carries was a beacon for my half-sister. She usually preys on the taken ones. Something about a power rush of having something that belongs to someone else. It's even better when they feel regret and guilt but they always seem to come back to her. I guess Landon was more of a challenge and she got caught up in her own game."

"That's sick and twisted."

"You'll have no argument from me. But I feel sorry for the boy. He obviously didn't fall for her trap. If he had then any further thoughts of lust then Kamda could have used it. Instead, she had to resort drugs and rape."

Nadine snarled and began pacing the room. "As soon as she has this baby, then she had better run for the fucking hills because I will murder this bitch."

The genie chuckled and wrapped his arms around his fiery love. "This I cannot allow. She's the only family I have left of my father and I was fond of her mother who loved me as if I were her own."

"How long have you been king anyways."

"Long before your great-grandparents were born. It was difficult at times but luckily, I had Jay as my advisor."

Nadine's wolf suddenly stirred with jealousy. "So, you two are close?"

Mike smiled at her sharp tone. "Jay has been my best friend since we were in swaddling clothes. We were never more than friends who have looked after each other. I've encountered her in every possible state imaginable, many I would like to forget, but it never stirred any sort of ludicrous notions. Nor has she taken an interest in me or I would have sensed it. And we've attended the same orgies."

A low growl from Nadine's throat and chuckled at her glare.

"I assure you, that those days are far behind me. Genies rival shifters in terms of possessiveness over mates."

"Well, I have never participated in an orgy so I think I'm at an unfair disadvantage."

Mike grabbed her throat. "I will fuck you so deep into this couch that you become part of it."

"Sounds like a cushy job. I'm liking the manhandling sofa."

"Damn. You just ruined with the mood with those damn puns." Mike sighed releasing Nadine who was laughing her butt off.

"Aw... No smuts?" She giggled evilly. "Totally worth it!"
