CHAPTER 48
Cub Creek Territory...
The auditorium was filled with a rambunctious crowd. Tracy stood next to Jonathan, Salim, Dayton, and Carrie at the podium on stage.
"EVERYONE! HELLO?!" Tracy yelled trying to catch the crowd's attention.
Jonathan wrapped his arms around her and pressed kiss to her neck, inhaling her cherry scent.
"Cover your ears." He whispered into her ear.
Tracy felt the vibrations as Jonathan's howl pierced through the cacophony.
"There you go, love." He whispered again and stole another kiss before releasing her.
"Um. Hello. I am the Protector, Tracy Mason. This is my mate, Peacekeeper Jonathan Mason. And these are Alphas Salim and Dayton Mason and their mate, Luna Carrie." She quickly introduced. "Who are you? And why are you here?"
Two men stood in the middle of the crowd. One of the men with a shock of dyed red hair spoke, "I am Laz and this is Uz. We are the current representatives for the Descendants of Job. Our ancestors made an agreement to intercede on the behalf of man. Word has reached us that the Plan laid out so long ago is to be enacted. We are here to fulfill our duty."
"Oh! So, you're the 'Sons of Job' that King Athens of the Sprites were telling us about." Tracy said.
"No." The taller man with dyed red hair said. "Our forefather Job gave an equal share to ALL of his children including his three daughters. Which was unheard of at the time. Patriarchal societies label us as "Sons of Job" but we do not use that title for ourselves. We elect our spokespersons and I and my brother are the first all-male pair in the last five generations. We are the 'Descendants of Job' and will be addressed as such."
"Right. Okay then. This was an extremely minor point that the author was trying to waste words on so that the chapter wouldn't be short. But now she has me rambling and overexplaining. Stupid coffee. I will check with King Athens for when this Plan will officially begin. In the meantime, Mrs. Whitman will see about accommodations and food."
The room burst out in loud woops and cheers as everyone stood to follow the petite housekeeper who handled this undertaking with ladylike grace and the steel precision of a military general. Omegas helped organize and regular pack members hurried along to assist. Soon the room was cleared and Tracy sighed.
"Things haven't even started and already I'm tired."
Author: Me too. I'm going to get another cup of coffee.
"NO!"

The Alpha's office was once again filled with people. Carrie handed Hadassah chilled bottle of water as the vampire apologized for their abrupt entrance.
"I'm very sorry for not contacting you earlier." Hadassah said. "It's been a nightmare securing a larger jet to fly everyone here. There are more groups around the world and they're already getting everything ready. I was honestly surprised at how quick they were at packing and organizing. They lived together in a building and had everything packed, stripped, and painted as if no one had ever been there. I had never seen anything like it."
There was a quick knock on the door as King Athens and his daughter, Shula, entered. "Good evening." He greeted. "I heard that the Sons of Job are here?"
"They want to be known as the 'Descendants of Job.'" Tracy informed him.
"Oh good. I always thought that the name was a disrespect to Job. He was well known for being fair."
"How long until the Plan begins?"
There was a knock at the door and it opens suddenly to reveal Shade holding her infant as her husband, Alpha Fredrick Greenbriar, follows.
"WAIT! I know where Ivory White is. We may not need to go through with the Plan." She said as adjusted her hold.
"It's not that simple Aunty Shade." Skylar said from the other side of the room where she sat next to Remi.
Shade's heart stopped when she saw the boy but before a word was spoken, Night walked in holding two cylinder-shaped black bags and a small piece of jewelry that caught her eye.
"I borrowed this from your mother." He said looking at Remi.
The boy nodded before looking at Skylar. "She needs to see."
"Agreed." Skylar said before looking at her uncle. "They're going to need to lay side by side."
"What's going on?" Shade asked the universal question that everyone in the room was glad she voiced. Night pulled out two yoga mats that he had brought and spread them out on the floor next to each other.
"You need something to guide you to see into the past. Tracy can use her powers to follow an object through time. If you hold hands then you can follow and feed each other's powers." Skylar explained.
Shade looked at her brother in disbelief. He stared back at her with a serious expression. "Shadow did something. My vision is blocked and so is yours. These breadcrumbs are all that were provided. We need answers."
"What do you need me to do?" Tracy asked.
"You both will lay on the mats because you'll be disoriented. You'll have the necklace and Shade will clasp your hand. I'll hold Shade's other hand and lend her my power to aid your visions but I won't be a part of them." Night said as his sister handed her son to Alpha Greenbriar.
"And then what?"
"You'll follow the necklace back to when Remi was born because that was when Shade placed it around his mother's neck." Shade said as she sat on the mat. "You need to stay with the necklace. It will show us where Shadow has been."
"Alright. Well let's do this." Tracy said. She looked over at Jonathan, "This may take a while."
"I'll be here the entire time." He said taking a seat at her side and leaning forward to place a kiss on her lips.
Fredrick swooped down to kiss his mate. "I'm going to take little man on a walk so he'll fall asleep and then I'll be back."
There was a knock at the door and Mrs. Whitman opened the door pushing in a loaded dessert cart.
"Thank you, Mrs. Whitman." Skylar said. "Uncle Night is going to need almost everything on the cart."
"REILLY!" Tracy shouted at her stepbrother.
"What? She said 'almost everything.'" Reilly said defensively around the chocolate éclair he stuffed in his mouth.
"Stop eating my eclairs!" Night exclaimed grabbing the loaded tray.
Skylar yelled. "Focus!"
Tracy looked around the room feeling annoyed. "Let's just do this."
Laying back she and Shade closed their eyes while holding hands. Night grabbed his sister's other hand and sat down beside her.
"Just relax." Shade murmured to Tracy. "This might feel a little weird."
