CHAPTER 41
Cub Creek Territory...
The room settled quickly since everyone was on edge. These new developments and upheavals caused a prevailing sense of stress and anxiety. Tracy sat on Jonathan's lap as King Hussein gave an account of the attack. Lord and Lady Thorne sat next to their daughter, who came as soon as she heard her parents would be here, quietly listening. Jordan and Jackson sat next to Reilly. Firelight wasn't listening at all but was watching his Other Half across the room where she sat next to her father, King Athens. Calvin and Lee had completed yet minimal version of training and would complete the required tasks while on the job. Roger and Phil sat across from Alec Somers curiously wondering why the Hunter's second in command was sitting here. Lucy's daughters sat next to Alec with their parents next to them.
At the head of the table Cub Creek's Alphas and their Luna waited patiently for everyone to give an account of why they were present. Skylar and Remi were playing "Hangman," ignoring the rest of the room. Asya and Night were also not paying attention since the sexual frustration between was obvious to even the most oblivious.
The doors opened and Shade walked in with her husband, Alpha Fredrick Greenbriar by her side. "Did I miss anything important?"
"Nope." Skylar said. "Everyone was just catching everyone else up on what happened. Pretty boring to be honest. I'm just waiting for Alec to start talking. He's the only one with anything of relevance at the moment."
"Wait!" Mido demanded. "First, I want to know why the demon who made my life hell is sitting at this damn table."
Skylar sighed, looking between her grandfather and Razdor. "Night needed him to rescue Landon from the Inter Spatium."
"The what?" Tracy asked.
"It's some version of purgatory meets reincarnation." Skylar explained before continuing. "Since being released he is no longer obligated to return to hell and the binding spell to the ring was broken."
"Where's the 5-point star?" Lucy asked.
"Still in the ring." Skylar answered.
"And what did he want for his services?" Mido growled the question while glaring at the demon.
"Nothing." Razdor replied. "I want nothing from my son."
"MY son!" Mido gritted out. "MY. SON. Not yours! You never wanted him or any of the other bastards you put out in the world. I wanted to go after their mother." He said waving a hand towards Zara and Zuri. "But you forced us to go the other way."
"You're right." Razdor said with regret. "You are so fucking right. I was a terrible father to all of my children, and I treated their mothers horribly. I don't deserve anything but your absolute hatred. I was cast out of heaven because of my selfishness and was cursed by that same sin. Yet it always seemed to work in my favor at the detriment of all else including my Balm. I wanted to kill the triplets because Angel cared so much for them that I felt that it took away from her love for me. I didn't want to share. I wanted it all. The Inter Spatuim forces souls to reflect upon their lives and to examine their wrongs. I saw everything including the moments when you came through and acted as a father towards children that you didn't willingly sire. I'm in a hole so deep and so black that I can't see my way out. But this is it for me. After the world's balance is restored. I'm going back to hell of my own free will and won't ever return. Eternal damnation is the least of what I deserve."
The room was silent. No one knew what to say. Skylar leaned forward and cleared her throat, "Another problem for another day. Moving on. Mr. Somers the metaphorical floor is yours."
Alec was surprised at the word "metaphorical" coming from such a young child, but he had to remind himself that this wasn't an ordinary situation, and she was far from normal adolescent. "As you asked, I gave the maps and translations to Ivory White's prison to Matthew Brush, the head of the Hunters' Council."
"What?!" Mido and Lucy exclaimed together.
"Shh." Skylar said putting her finger to her lips in the direction of her grandparents. "He's not done."
"I also gave him the documents pertaining to the Eternal Life spell."
Athens snorted. "Good luck with that then."
"What do you mean?" Night asked.
"That isn't eternal life. It's a death curse in a pretty package. The spell was written by a Dark Fairy who specialized in creating curses. The curse basically grants the user the illusion of youth. But in reality, it takes four hours for every day. For example, if someone was to have twenty years of life left, they would lose several years of it in exchange. Everyone is given an appointed time to die, and death will not be cheated. The curse simply takes a piece of that remaining time."
"Hang on." Night said as he disappeared. He reappeared a few seconds later with an old werewolf.
David Rameeta looked around the room and felt so very tired.
"Tell us about the Eternal Life spell." Night demanded.
Author: "Did anyone else know that cheetahs have a special bark that causes the females to ovulate on demand?"
Everyone stared at the Author and sighed.
"Why bitch? Why?" Reilly groaned.
Author shrugs: "I hate meetings. They're sooo boring and no one ever has any good doughnuts. They're always hard and stale. The coffee is always cold and not in an icy goodness sort of way. I'm so tired of this. It's already day eight and I'm still on the same chapter. So, I started scrolling through Facebook and found that bit on nonsense. I wonder if it's true. Hmm... maybe I should write a cheetah book?"
"Fucking focus." Reilly growled.
"And you don't need any more coffee." Asya added.
Author shrugged again before leaving the room. "I'm going to grab another cup to get through this."
"Hurry up and tell us about the Eternal Life spell before she comes back." Night demanded from the prisoner before grabbing a doughnut now that the author drew attention to them. "Shit! These are stale."
"The Eternal Life spell is what we were promised. Life of renewed youth. Oh, to be young again." Rameeta said with a look of reminisce nostalgia.
"The spell is actually a curse that steals time away from the user. You gain a youthful body but you live a shorter life. It's all an illusion." Athens said keeping a steady gaze at the old wolf.
A look of pure disbelief cross Rameeta's face. "They lied?" He asked angrily.
"I really don't feel sorry for you at all." Tracy said before asking the guards to carry the former pack elder to his cell.
"Wait!" Rameeta called. "I was supposed to meet with an informant that had a list of all the original members of the Prime Purity. His name is Soren Petrov. His mother was one of the whores that entertained high ranking members. Smart woman. She was paid with secrets. Unfortunately, that backfired when she learned something that she wasn't supposed to and the wrong people got paranoid."
"Where is he?"
"Sofia, Bulgaria."
=====================================
I give up. I don't know where this is going. Who the heck is Soren Petrov? Why are we just sticking new people into the last book?
People ask me a lot... how do you come up with these ideas. I'm just writing. There really isn't an actual plan. THIS is my outline that has been jotted down in paragraph form. Editing is going to be a nightmare. Sigh... I need to find a literary agent.
Fun fact... I wrote this chapter near the end of 2022. It's July 1, 2023 and this is the first chapter I've published in this book in almost a year (or maybe more than a year). The only reason why I'm publishing it today is because it's a birthday present... Happy Birthday NayNayR80
It's taken me a while and I'm still sorting things out, but I will release another chapter next Thursday.
