Sophia's pov

Most of the kids at school want to be friends with me, they want some of my popularity until they realize I'm not the best to trust. Then they prefer to stay away. In the last months I was alone, but I knew that I needed friends because without friends you are nothing. How could a popular girl be a nothing?

So I found some

Jamie was first. I watched him for a long time and saw that he was lonely, he had no friends. He was nice and handsome, I knew he was the one. When I started talking to him he was shocked, but then he liked being popular and stayed

The second was Lisa. At first she hung out with her brother and his friends but after a few months I saw her being alone. I was hesitant and didn't know if I wanted to talk to her or not because I never really liked her brother but in the end Jamie said she was good. So I approached her and here we are

I know that they wanted to be popular, so I gave them exactly what they wanted

Now I'm on Lisa's floor laughing and talking about boys instead of reading for tomorrow, Jamie couldn't join us today

"Come on you could be perfect together" I said smiling at her as she giggled like a little kid and patted my shoulder playfully "But come to think of it, me and Bruce, you and Jack and Jamie with a beautiful cheerleader. We'd be icons" I was just stating the facts. I looked at her waiting to say something but she seemed lost in thought. I didn't know what she was thinking, I was just waiting for her to speak

After a few minutes of silence she finally spoke "I don't really know Sophie. I mean they could date anyone" she seemed to be in disbelief. I sighed and rolled my eyes. I was sure she liked him and could win him over but she was always so good and hesitant about these kind of things

"Don't be like that. Remember that day when they couldn't take their eyes off us? Especially Jack" I said smiling mischievously looking her straight in the eyes. She seemed to be thinking about this, trying to remember "I don't think they were looking at us" she finally said hesitantly. Here we go again

"Just listen to me. They were looking at us. I'm sure. I saw them smile and wink. I mean who are they going to wink at? Mrs. Smith or Mrs. Grant? Come, pick one," I said, and as I spoke I could hear my voice ready to burst out laughing. I also saw Lisa's face, red from holding in her loud laughter, "What Mrs. Barney? Who are going to pick?" I imitated Mrs. Smith's voice and Lisa finally started rolling on the carpet laughing.

"Lisa, Lisa, Lisa" I said laughing too. I looked at her as she tried to sit back up but couldn't as she was still laughing. Jamie was right, Lisa is a very good girl. A bit sensitive which is not good when you are the popular girl because you have to be ready for everything. She is also helpful and easy to manipulate. Well, I wouldn't say I'm that kind of person or I could be

I had finally found the right people and
was going to make sure I never let them go

Like I said I'm not the one to trust

Suddenly as I heard Lisa still laughing I was about to tell her to stop because her parents might hear but a loud noise made us stop  what we were doing. We looked at each other. It sounded like it was from upstairs

I saw her sigh and her eyes left mine looking towards our closed door. "It must have been my brother, you know how he is" I sighed too. Indeed I do. Ever since I started hanging out with Lisa and coming over to her house, I could see that he wasn't a big fan of me and neither was I. I actually hated him because all the attention of Jack and his friends was on him and his stupid friends

Or because I've seen the way he and his friends stare at Jack's table, or the way Jack and the twins look at them whenever they walk by

I was lost in thought and I was sure I must have narrowed my eyes looking towards the door until I heard Lisa say "I'll bring some food and water, would you like some?" I looked back and saw that she was now standing, looking at me waiting for an answer . After a few minutes I stood up too straightening my pink skirt a bit and crossing my arms over my chest "Yes" I said looking at her and smiling "I'll also come and help you" I added and then she smiled at me muttering a thank you. She turned around and we headed for the door.

Lisa opened the door and was the first to leave the room. Then I went out too. Across from her was another closed door and I assumed it was Arthur's from the way Lisa was looking at it. I heard her taking a big breath before turning her head to me and smiling as she left for the stairs. I glanced at the door too for a little too long and smiled before following her."I might pay Arthur a visit" I whispered to myself as I stood next to Lisa not caring if she heard me or not

My luck never lets me down
