Gabe's pov.

(The other day at school)

Warm smiles were coming out of beautiful hearts, while the warmth was raising his hands, softly hugging us. Different happy words and a few laughs were echoing around and a few glances were thrown at us. Angry. Happy. Anything. But that was not any of my concern. I was here, living the moment vividly, like I would have lived it in a dream

And suddenly this familiar voice was distracting my mind, not letting me go any further. It was shouting my name and I felt like I had to wake up from a dream after all, heading for my next common day

“GABRIEL” it shouted again, making me and several other people to turn around

“Huh?”

“I've been calling you for minutes, dude”

My mind stopped traveling and my eyes landed on my brother, next to me. His face was contorted in confusion, almost making me burst in giggles. Students around us were coming and going, quickly and with quiet conversations heading to their classes. And then I knew where I was standing and that lucky enough my previous thoughts weren't  just a dream

“So…care to share what you were thinking about?”

“Um…” I cleared my throat, already trying not to seem too lost  “about last night”

“Mmh”

He crossed his hands in his chest and moved a little forward, already searching for our awaiting face. With a huff, he laid back to the wall, his eyes coming back to mine. I don't think Jack was coming in any second either

“What about last night?”

His sudden question made me stutter a little but as soon as I bit my lip, I was brought back, feeling my steady heartbeat hidden behind the tons of clothes and my slightly red skin

“What were you thinking about last night?” he asked slowly again and this time my words were rushing to spill out

“About your lovey dovey face and how much I wanted to puke” I said laughing after a few seconds and a strong hit in the arm, put me in my place again

“Like the way you were looking at Alice wasn't sickening” Bruce said through his delightful laughter, already placing his hand back to his chest

Of course, how couldn't I look at Alice all night yesterday. She was really fabulous, taking my heart out of my chest with every blink of her memorizing eyes and then placing it back with her beautiful smile

I had so much fun

Not just by watching every movement of hers but because of my other friends too. We ate and made jokes, trying to keep our voices down. Everyone was in a good mood, with a smirk on their faces, except for Arthur at first. But when Jack closed him in the warmth of his arms, his face immediately lightened

Even Lisa had tried and put a real smile on her face, having fun from the moment she sat down, relocating her anxiety deep within her heart

So yes, I could easily say that this was my favorite night which will never fade in my memory

But while my mind had turned into a paradise, the scene that was playing in front of my eyes was the exact contrary. Bruce had suddenly stopped smiling, seeming totally confused. His eyes were fixed on someone, like he had saw them doing a crime

My head turned the same way my brother was looking so carefully, not knowing what awaited me

With a heavy sigh making its way out of my mouth my eyes settled into Sophia's ones

“Not again”

She was standing on the other side of us away, her statue showing her unreasonable anger. Not that this was new. We had caught her looking at us in this way many times, especially now lately, when a lot of things had changed, but no one really paid her any attention

The now low voice of my brother was the one that made me snap out and look at him again. Sophia had already turned her head the other way with her foot tapping the floor in exasperation

“Do you think that…?”

He didn't choose to finish his sentence, urging me to make a deep dive in the past thoughts

“Oh…” and then the realization hit me

“I mean by the way she is constantly looking at us, I wouldn't rule it out” Bruce whispered

I turned again and watched the way her hands hugged her body, the same look as before, painting her slight pink face

“Gabe?…”

With a quick movement, I looked at my brother again and the shock written on my face was clear. My mouth just opened and in no second hundred of words were spilling out without any breath being able to stop me

“Oh God…”

“I mean… it… it was a stupid joke from Jo that just gave her more hopes. I had told him it was a silly idea but you know him…he doesn't listen to anyone”

He just nodded and after rubbing his already red nose, he turned towards the door

And I stayed in my now sad deep thoughts with my heart slightly shattered. Even my voice had abandoned me with only a whisper making out of my lungs

“I thought she would have forgotten. I had made it clear that she isn't my type”

And once again I was wrong
