Lisa's pov

Everything was fine, I had my brother by my side and we hung out with his friends. I had a great time with them until the bullying started to affect me. I could tell I was sensitive, so when the bullying started, I walked away from them without explaining anything, not that they ever asked me. I think they already knew. I remember sitting alone, walking alone and generally being alone. The only good thing was that no one bothered me

But one day, I know I'll never forget it, I was in my locker and when I closed it and turned my head, I suddenly saw Sophia Mayers, the popular girl, coming up to me in fancy clothes as always and her long black hair high in a ponytail. She stopped in front of me and smiled like it was something normal. It was the first time in weeks that anyone had spoken to me

And then everything changed. I found myself in the company of Sophia, something completely unexpected for me. At first I didn't even speak, I just kept a little distance, because I had my brother warning me about hanging out with her and her friends, but Arthur was completely wrong about her friends, well about her only friend, Jamie

Jamie was a very nice guy and I won't deny that he was very handsome too. When I was away from them at first he was the one who came and started talking to me. We became very close and it wasn't too late when we started sharing our opinions, fears and eventually secrets. He was the right guy to trust and I was glad to meet him

On the other hand, Sophia, when I finally met her, was nice and I could see myself hanging out with her. Me and Jamie always wondered why she chose us as her friends, but we never really asked. We figured she just needed new ones. I wasn't complaining at all and neither was Jamie, we finally got some recognition and we were happy about it, but I always see popularity as a drug, you get a little and then you want more and Sophia wanted more

The truth is that after a few days of hanging out with them, especially Jamie, I started to not care about people pointing their fingers at me as I walked by. I was happy that I found them, that I found Jamie and that he was in my life now. I had the smile I'd been missing all these past weeks when I was by his side

But Sophia became more interested in these people. She wanted to be shown and envied. Sometimes I thought she was crazy, especially when she started looking so desperately for a boy, but not just for her but for me and a girl for Jamie, just for more popularity. She wanted us to start flirting popular boys and girls

I remember her always saying "Popular goes with popular". Dumbest thing I've ever heard

She didn't care much about our feelings, especially hers. One day she had the idea of flirting with Jack and his friends and it was totally crazy. She was acting like a little girl with a big crush, talking breathlessly and her eyes completely shining. That was the only thing keeping me and Jamie going. We knew she didn't have an easy life and I think if we leave her alone we will destroy her. So we were there when she was really happy and had the craziest ideas or when she was so sad she didn't even want to talk.

Now we were sitting in my room, trying to study but failing. Unfortunately, Jamie couldn't come today and he was always the one to remind us about studying. Now we just kept talking about boys while laughing like we were 13 again. Then Sophia kept talking about Jack and his company and I wanted to tell her to stop talking so bad about them but I didn't do anything

" Come on, you could be perfect together"

" .... they couldn't take their eyes off us? Especially Jack "

She went on and on about them every day. She was obsessed, especially dating someone had become an obsession to her, but I nodded and agreed with what she was saying not knowing what else to do
