Arthur's pov.
The days were spent quickly, with no problem bothering me at all. It was Friday and still there wasn't any notification from Sophia…if it was her who I was sure she was. She hated me the most and just her gaze everytime…
I slowly stood up with a sigh that quickly turned into a groan, as every muscle in my body ached. My eyes were trying to adjust to the little sunlight that was trying to come through my window, as the curtain was already drawn and my ears to the ringing alarm clock. Suddenly, in all the chaos there was a sudden burst of the door
“Happy birthday, Arthur!” my sister yelled full of happiness. I turned around after a few seconds when I had finally turned my alarm off, giving her a small tired smile. Footsteps echoed slightly as I approached her and thanked her with a small hug. She just stared at me, at first, as it was many months of her receiving such a warm one, until I opened the bathroom door. That's when I heard the door to my room close and her soft voice yelling at me something incoherent
As soon as I was alone again, I started preparing for the day. It wasn't long before the bathroom door opened, revealing me, ready to find some good clothes to wear. When I was finally drowned in the warmth of my sweatshirt, I walked over to my door, opening it and taking a few more steps, I was found in front of Lisa. She had her hands crossed over her chest like an angry teacher, but when she saw me, she just took one of my hands, dragging me down quickly
When we took the last step, we both were greeted by a table full of food and my parents standing beside it with a smile on. My mum left dad's side and came running to me, engulfing me in her long arms. My mind, constantly full with the words happy birthday as we all sat down, ready for our breakfast
It was good and there was only silence apart from the time my mum and dad gave me their present. They were two large books, on which my eyes were glued from the day I saw them. My sister mumbled something about a present and tonight but I couldn't understand much, so with a shrug I looked back at my present. We started eating again after I had given both my parents a hug but we were cut off after several minutes of them whispering as an announcement fell from my mother's mouth, suddenly. As she began to speak, me and my sister stared at each other with eyes wide, full of shock
“So today, as you know, in addition to Arthur's birthday is also our anniversary. We decided to go on a little trip after celebrating your birthday honey. It won't be long, just two or three days and we won't be going far, so if anything happens, give us a call. We will be here in no min…” she stopped as my hand intertwined with hers, my eyes and words reassuring her. They deserved this
“You don't need to worry, we'll be just fine” and with that she nodded and then together with my father, they quickly began to enumerate their rules. While listening to the rule of no parties, I had almost finished my food on the plate. After a few minutes, everyone was done with their breakfast and me with Lisa were ready to leave for school
It didn't take much time to get in the car, put on our safety belts and leave, so, as every day, we were on time outside the yard. Me and my sister hopped off the car and greeted our dad as he drove away, light smoke billowing from behind
“So what are we doing now?” Lisa asked and looked around
“Won't you go to Sophia?" This question seemed to make her think as she stopped walking and stayed staring into infinity until her legs moved and her hands gripped the bag straps tightly. With a small smile, she greeted me and headed towards the main door where Sophia had just passed
For a minute I felt bad. While my eyes were following her, the words that had just been spoken were running through my head. Maybe she thought I didn't want her company… That was clearly my fault, because when curiosity overtakes me, I don't think much of how to use my words correctly. With a big sigh of guilt, my mind wandered back to when I had accidentally heard Lisa taking to our mother about a few arguments she and Jamie have with Sophia, mainly because she tends to be too controlling sometimes and don't want to speak to them a lot anymore
