Trigger warning: light mention of alcohol

Jamie's pov.

(After the game, at a party)

Loud music was echoing in all the house. Drunk kids were either dancing like there was no tomorrow or they were kissing at a corner with someone they would probably not remember the other day. The lights were showing off their faces for a few minutes and then dark again. I was sitting in the corner, examining the place and people around me. A cup full of lemonade was between my fingers. The other kids were holding one too, but full of something that it will make them forget their name for now. I personally never really liked drinking

I took a sip of my cup, with the cold liquid running down my throat. With one move, I got hold of my phone with the other hand. The light shone in my face as soon as I opened it. 12:05 am. A light sigh was left out my mouth with the picture of the time in front of my eyes. I stayed looking at the screenshot behind those numbers. A smile crawled back to my face immediately. It could have been a nice picture, or some encouraging words, but I chose to decorate my screen with a memory. It was a photograph of me, Lisa, Sophia and my siblings. How much I miss these memories. It soon closed alone and I left it. Struggling a little, I got to push it back to the pocket of my jean

For once again, my eyes darted around, searching for some of the familiar people of the photo. They had left me alone too long, with promises that they would not be late, hanging from their mouths. Lisa had gone to the kitchen for more drinks and Sophia was shoved into the crowd of moving bodies with two cups in her hand. Searching for her for a few minutes, I had finally found her. She was surrounded by people who were looking at her or were trying to open a conversation. But by the way she had closed her eyes and was swaying to the music, anyone could tell she was in her own world right now. The cups were nowhere to be found

My eyes went from her empty hands to her peaceful face. She seemed happy but I was worried about her. Not just because she'd grabbed two cups full of alcohol since we got here but because she didn't seem to be doing well either. In the game she was so quiet it was like she was a completely different person. She was sitting in her seat, clapping sometimes and making conversations with a few words. And now there she is between all these people that she was trying to hide from these past days, more drunk than ever

When the same suggested the idea of coming here I was ready to decline it but Lisa stopped me before doing anything, reassuring me that everything will be okay and that we all needed some "free party time". I wanted to say that she was completely wrong but the look of their eyes stopped me from doing it. Maybe I didn't need the free time for myself but the girls were the ones. So I agreed and now I'm here looking at Sophia from afar, wondering what's so wrong with her and cursing myself for sitting here doing nothing

That was the only thing that made my legs move. I started walking with the destination being Sophia. It was a whole Odyssey until I reached her. Kids shoving me back while I pumped to some of them, drinks spilling everywhere, boys cursing me, a few girls searching for my hands to grab me and dance. I passed through all of them, hands accidentally roaming to their bodies. “We shouldn't have come here” that was the only thought replaying on my mind

I let a deep breath out of my mouth when I finally reached the spot where I had seen Sophia. I was still being squeezed by many people who were dancing with their hands up. I looked around with my eyes darting in all the bodies that they were beside me. Then a few feets away from me, I recognized that long black hair and light dark skin swaying not so violently at this moment. Sophia came to a sudden stop. She seemed to be looking around too as she was expecting me to come closer to her. With one fast move she turned around like she was really searching for something but not for me
