Chapter 18

Arthur's pov

                                                       ( Time skip )

We could almost hear people talking when we opened the door and walked in. Me, Alice and Geo were standing in the middle of Dina's between empty tables. I didn't have to look around, I immediately saw our favorite spot next to the window empty too. I motioned to the children and headed that way

When we arrived, we finally sat down with Geo across from me and Alice next to me. We immediately started talking about today's events without fearing whether anyone could hear us or not. Luckily this place wasn't that famous to the other kids at school and I was kind of happy about that. I had this place as our safe one

"So that's why you didn't text me yesterday?" Alice asked me as she looked at me "Yes" I said after a deep sigh "I was so angry I felt like I wanted to relax so I finished my classes and shortly after I went to bed" I tried to explain as my eyes wondered at both of them "Sorry" I added after a few minutes trying to apologize to Alice for not texting her

"Hey don't worry" she said as she grabbed my hand and squeezed, her eyes never leaving mine "If I were you I could throw the rest of the water on her precious face" she continued imitating Sofia as she kept speaking. We burst out laughing as he let go of my hand

I told them everything today at school. At first I told what happened with Jack and to my surprise their reaction was not what I expected. They just smiled and both told me they had been waiting for him to come talk to me so it wasn't a big surprise to them

Then we went to class but were informed that Mr. Jonas would be late, so I told them what happened with Sophia the day before as well. This is where I got the reaction I expected from both of them, especially Alice "I can't believe your sister didn't do anything" she had said and then went on to talk about how she had seen her and Sophia walking around until Mr. Jonas finally entered the classroom

"Let's stop talking about her and talk about Jack" Alice said after a few minutes filled with the name Sophia, she had a smile on her face and no it wasn't a good one "Lucky you" Geo quickly added after Alice, joining our conversation, his smile matching hers

"Guys it was nothing, he just came to apologize" I said trying to make it clear what his true intentions were but deep inside as I spoke I prayed that those weren't the only intentions

"Well…" Alice went to comment on my answer but she didn't have time to finish her sentence when a sweet quiet voice interrupted us "Hey, what would you like to order?" It was one of the waiters, a beautiful young woman, who apparently came to take our orders

We all looked at her and smiled before taking our turns to say our food orders. The whole time she was writing and when she was done she mumbled a quiet thank you and smiled at us before turning and walking away. We turned to look at each other and Alice had that smile on her face again looking straight into my eyes "Where were we?"

We continued talking until the same waitress as before came to drop our orders on our table, her smile never leaving her face. We all said thank you and then she left. We had all ordered a hamburger and something to drink. We started eating without talking much, only to comment on how delicious the food was

While we were in the middle of eating we heard the door open, there weren't many people coming here at this time so the three of us immediately turned our heads and to our great surprise we noticed three handsome boys standing in the middle just like us a few minutes ago

We turned our heads back so they couldn't notice us and our reactions. Of course we were shocked I knew or should I say I thought they didn't know this place. Alice looked at Geo and then at me whispering something like "What the hell are they doing here?" her eyes were completely wide, not daring to look back at them

Indeed what Jack and the twins were doing in this place they probably never knew

"I don't know, I mean if they knew this place we would have seen them again" I whispered to her clearly shocked. Our little conversation continued in whispers until we both heard Geo cough lightly probably to get our attention. We looked at him together and he motioned us with his eyes to look back

I turned around and made eye contact with a white slightly sheer shirt. I took a deep breath and my eyes went to the person's face. They found Jack's blue. He was looking back at me smiling as he has done all these years that he has been around me. Gabe and Bruce were behind him looking at our table, not sure where but smiling too

"Hi" Jack said probably to greet us all, but the way his voice softened and he continued to look at me felt like it was direct to me. I felt a sudden weight on my chair and just then I noticed both of his hands resting on the top of it. I could see his veins again as then and I had to take a breath to come back to the real world

"Hi" I replied trying not to whisper or sound weird. We looked at each other again and while looking into his eyes I felt a little lost in them until a familiar voice brought me back to reality

"Weird to see you here" Alice said with a nervous laugh. I looked back at her still feeling Jack's presence behind me. I could smell him faintly and oh my god I loved his perfume "Fuck" I whispered under my breath praying none of the boys had heard me swear

"Yeah, we're visiting this place for the first time" Gabe finally said sounding a little nervous too. It was our first meeting after everything that happened between us, so it was normal for us to be curious to each other. For the next few minutes no one spoke, we just looked at each other. I swear I could hear everyone's breathing and even their heartbeats so quiet we were

"Well, we'll find a table to sit at" it was Gabe who spoke again, sounding more nervous than before. I didn't hear anyone say anything but I knew they would probably agree because I felt the weight on my chair lighten and I knew I was right because when I turned around I only saw their backs moving away

"You know you can sit with us" I said without thinking, before they were too far away. And then I felt time stop. They stopped walking and no one spoke, the only thing I heard was a gasp probably from Alice. I didn't turn to look at her and Geo, but I could imagine their shock and confusion in my head. I kept looking at Jack waiting for him to turn around and when he did he looked a little shocked too. Then Gabe and Bruce turned to look at me more confused than shocked

After a few seconds he turned to the others and whispered something we couldn't hear but I saw Bruce nod and Gabe say something. When Jack turned around I saw him smiling and the three of them started walking towards our table again. They grabbed some chairs from the other tables and sat with us

Gabe sat between me and Alice, Bruce between me and Jack, Geo still across from me between Jack and Alice. Gabe and Alice were looking at each other smiling, Bruce was trying to stare at Geo who's eyes were going anywhere but him while Jack and I were looking at each other and then he winked at me and I looked back at my half eaten hamburger blushing

When I raised my hear after a few bites of my food, I looked at everyone's faces to see if this was the right decision. I felt we must invite them to sit with us to say thank you because it looks like they are trying to be nicer and not bother us

Alice was still a bit shocked but I could see her small smile while Geo was biting his lower lip still nervously looking around. Gabe was trying to get the waitress's attention so they could order something to eat as Bruce was checking something on his phone now but after a few minutes he dropped it. Jack was looking something on his phone too but didn't seem to get off it until he felt my gaze on him. I saw him close it and then he turned and smile at me for the hundredth time

As for me, I wasn't shocked or nervous. On the contrary, I was happy because I want us to try to be on good terms

I know this was something completely unexpected from me
