The sound of heavy footsteps approached the bed. The temperature in the room also seemed to fall, making the air turn cold.
Aside from Jungkook, it was unlikely that anyone else would have such an aura.
Jungkook sat down on the edge of the bed and pressed his large palm against Lisa’s forehead. “You don’t have a fever. Do you feel very uncomfortable?”
Although it was a question, he sounded very certain.
Earlier, he had already noticed her poor complexion downstairs.
She shook her head and breathed in the scent of ginger in the air. She opened her eyes to see that he was holding a bowl in his hands.
“I made brown sugar ginger tea. Have some before you sleep.” His cold, heavy voice sounded slightly gentle.
She sat up and leaned back against the bed frame. He considerately placed some pillows behind her back. His movements were very natural as though they were a couple who had lived together for many years.
“You made this yourself?” she asked softly.
Due to the pain in her abdomen, she was not in the mood to be mischievous.
“Yes.” He nodded slightly and lifted the spoon to her lips. “Open your mouth.”
His tone was soft and coaxing. She could not help but feel deeply moved. “Jungkook, you shouldn’t treat me so well.”
He looked at her as though this was only normal. “You’re my fiancée. My lifelong partner. If I don’t treat you well, who should I be treating well?”
She smiled in contentment.
Even though he was outstanding in so many ways, whenever she needed him, he was always this thoughtful and considerate.
She had likely found the most amazing man in this world!
As he fed her spoonfuls of the mixture, she felt her heart melting in a bliss.
That night, Lisa fell asleep in Jungkook’s arms. He did not do anything to her and only held her firmly.
The two of them were thoroughly exhausted and quickly fell into deep sleep.
…
In a certain hospital room in the city centre, Shuhai, Lilan and Eunha laid side-by-side in separate hospital beds.
Eunha had been injured in her earlier conflict with the students from Jing Hua University. She was currently unconscious.
Lilan was also resting silently.
Shuhai however, bemoaned his circumstances endlessly. His loud voice nearly echoed through the entire building. “Aiyo, the pain is killing this old man! God only knows who I provoked. They beat me up so badly, all of my bones are nearly shattered. Aiyo…”
Lilan glared at Shuhai. “Be quiet. You’ve been whining the entire night. Isn’t it enough? You’ll disturb Manxue’s rest!”
Shuhai grumbled. “I’m doing this because I really can’t endure the pain!”
“Although you’ve offended quite many people, you’re still Lisa’s second uncle. The news about Lisa being Jeon Jungkook’s fiancée has already been released. Most people wouldn’t dare to openly attack you.” Lilan furrowed her brows to think. “Who would have the guts to do this?”
“How should I know? I already told you, I went back to the Lee home to pick up some fresh sets of clothing and toiletries for you and Eunha. I was on the way back to the hospital when several young men intercepted me and beat me up. I didn’t even manage to see their faces clearly!”
As Shuhai said this, he suddenly recalled. “When I returned to the Lee home, I met Jungkook who was looking for Lisa. Afterwards, I shared my opinion about Lisa’s decision to visit you. All our neighbours felt that Lisa was too unfilial. But I didn’t expect Jungkook to stand up for Lisa.”
“Could it have been Jungkook who did it then?” Lilan looked at him as though he was foolish. She felt both anger and heartache welling up inside her. “You should know how much Jungkook protects Lisa. Unless you are certain that you are holding onto her weakness, it would be best if you use other people to attack her in the future.”
