It was the day before Halloween and Ronald Weasley was conflicted. He had grown up on stories of Harry Potter and he had assumed he would be in Gryffindor like everyone else. So when he went into Hufflepuff, Ron was upset. How could they be best friends if they weren't in the same House? Then the rumors that he was marrying Malfoy started to fly around the school. He couldn't believe it! Harry Potter marrying Malfoy? It didn't make any sense! Ron loved playing chess. He was rather good at it. Chess took skill and strategy. Sometimes the best strategy was to sit back and watch. So that's what he did. He saw how small Harry Potter was. He was probably the size of his little sister Ginny and she was only ten! He noticed how Harry never felt comfortable around adults. He saw how in love Harry Potter and Malfoy were. So even though it went against everything he thought he knew, he slowly began to root for them. It all came to a head one day after Potions. Malfoy stopped him outside of class and demanded he stop stalking Harry Potter.
"I'm not stalking him!" Ron could already feel his cheeks turn red. Curse his pale complexion!
"Well you've been following him around constantly. If that's not stalking, then what is it?" Malfoy said, crossing his arms. Ron didn't know what to do. He didn't mean to make anyone angry. He opened and closed his mouth before sighing. Staring at his worn shoes, he said "I just wanted to be friends with him." Malfoy narrowed his eyes at him before saying "then ask him! Are you a Gryffindor or not?" and turned around to stomp away. So here he was, roaming the halls in search of Harry Potter. He heard a loud noise and looked around. He saw second year Cormac McLaggen and Eddie Carmichael shoving someone. McLaggen was in his House and he thought Carmichael was a Ravenclaw. He saw the smaller boy get up and realized it was Harry Potter!
"Leave me alone!" Harry said, wiping his hands on his trousers. The older boys laughed and said "that was for getting us detention! Where's your precious snake now?" Ron would not tolerate bullying. He pushed his sleeves back and stepped forward.

Harry should've known today was not going to be a good day. Everyone kept giving him sympathetic looks because it was the day before his parents were murdered. Draco and Hermione had been hovering around him all day. He just wanted a little peace and quiet to think about his godfather. He hadn't written to him yet. He was nervous about the interaction. What if he didn't like him? He tried to not let it bother him but Sirius was his godfather. A person chosen by his parents to take care of him. So he was wandering the halls when the two boys who had stopped Draco and him on their second day appeared.
"Well well well, what do we have here? The golden boy is all alone" the Gryffindor one said.
"Moping about because your parents are dead, Potter? Gonna cry about it?" The Ravenclaw boy mocked. Harry just stared at them. Why would he cry? His parents had been dead his whole life. He thought these boys were trying to purposely upset him but they had nothing on his Aunt.
He told them to leave him alone and they pushed him to the ground.
"You're lucky your death eater boyfriend isn't here or we'd really let you have it." Harry was angry now. He didn't care what anyone said about his parents but he wouldn't stand for anyone insulting his beloved.
"Oi! Leave him alone!" The red headed boy who had been following him for a week suddenly appeared.
"Get out of here, Weasley!"
"Oh shove off, McLaggen! Leave Harry alone or I'll tell Fred and George!" Weasley shouted. Harry didn't know who Fred or George was but it made the other boys pause and that was all he needed. After all, Harry had always been good with his hands.

Narcissa Malfoy was running through the manor. Professor Sprout had contacted her by floo and said Harry was in the Headmaster's office! Lucius was meeting with the lawyers and she had no time to waste. Turning on the spot, she apparated to Hogsmead and walked quickly towards the castle. The giant doors opened for her and she went straight to Dumbledore's office. Stopping at the gargoyles, she said "I'm here to see the Headmaster, it's urgent!" They moved and she took the stairs two at a time. Not bothering to knock, she threw the door open. Her sweet son-in-law was sitting in one of the chairs in front of Dumbledore's desk. He was staring firmly at the ground while all four Heads of House spoke over each other. Taking her wand out, she caused a large bang to echo throughout the room. They turned to stare at her before Dumbledore said "Lady Malfoy, may I ask what you're doing here?"
"I called her here," Harry's head of House said.
"But why? She isn't his guardian." The old man said. She couldn't stand the Headmaster. He had always rubbed her the wrong way.
"Because Harry is going to be a part of the Malfoy Family. So would someone please explain just what is going on?" Narcissa spoke up, keeping her back straight. He opened his mouth but Severus beat him to an explanation.
"Harry put two boys in the hospital wing." For once in her life, Narcissa didn't know what to say. She turned to look at him and saw that he was in the same position he had been when she came in.
"Harry dear, is that true? I'm not upset, Mummy will take care of any issues that arise." She didn't care about the other children but Harry had to have a good reason for acting out. The boy hasn't stepped a toe out of line all semester and she found it odd that he would suddenly lash out.
"It's true, ma'am"

Harry watched Mrs. Malfoy's face as he admitted to fighting those two boys. She let out a gasp as she rushed forward.
"Harry! Your face!" She gently touched his cheek and tilted his face to the side.
"Dobby!" The house elf appeared in an instant and let out a squeak when he saw Harry's face as well. It felt sort of swollen but he hadn't been able to look in a mirror yet.
"Bring Lucius here immediately."
"Yes, mistress!" He disappeared as quickly as he had appeared. She turned to look at the other adults and said "would someone like to explain to me why my darling boy's face is injured and no one has bothered to heal him yet?" Her voice had grown louder until she screeched the last word, her face twisted in rage. The Professors all looked at him in unison before his Head took out her wand and healed his face. It still felt tender but he didn't feel like he had run into a wall.
Being with the Malfoy's had made Harry greedy. He knew that he had broken the rules and he deserved to get punished but he wanted the other boys to pay too. They had no right to say such horrible things about Draco! If Harry didn't defend Draco, how could he call himself a good fiancé? The Headmaster laced his fingers together before saying "Now Harry, we need to decide your punishment for attacking two other students."
"Let's cut to the chase, Dumbledore. Harry obviously acted in self defense. He has a perfect record and has never even had detention. I think deducting points will suffice." Mrs. Malfoy said.
"Ma'am two students are in the hospital wing and you want us to deduct points? Mr. Potter should get suspended at the very least!" Professor McGonagall said. He watched Mr. Snape step in front of her and say "how interesting, Minerva. You were never so vocal when the Marauders were spreading their mischief. Perhaps you would feel different if Mr. Potter was in your House?" He watched her cheeks gain color as she scowled at him. "The Marauders played harmless pranks-!" Snape cut her off "if you weren't a Slytherin! I can't count how many times one of us was sent to the hospital wing! Where was your outrage then?" Harry didn't know what or who the Marauders were but it sounded terrible. How could you target a whole House? Sure Harry didn't like the boys who he fought with but he wasn't going to target a whole House over it.
"I think we've gotten off topic." The Headmaster chided. Before anyone said anything else, the door burst open for the second time. It was the oddest duo. Mr. Malfoy and Ron Weasley were both wheezing as they tried to catch their breath. Ron had a black eye and he seemed to be limping slightly but he loudly declared "Harry is innocent!"
