Chapter 7

The days before the hotel's inauguration were quite uneventful: Rain did his best to pay attention during his lessons just because he wanted to demonstrate that he could be a better student than Payu, even if most of his classmates knew that a task like that was almost impossible.

Venice eventually surrendered and accepted to stay at home to keep his father calm, he didn't stop working though, he kept working from his bed and fixed the project for the client that wasn't satisfied with his work. Pete wanted him to rest fully but he was aware that he couldn't force his son more than that and he felt relieved as he saw that Venice recovered quite quickly.

Rain was about to fall asleep on the sofa in his living room when he heard the doorbell ringing, he stood up and lazily walked to the door. As he saw Sky, Rain picked his phone from his pocket and noticed that it was just 2 pm, he turned to his friend and asked:

"It is a little too early Sky, why did yo-"

"Shut up and get ready, you know that you always end up coming late, I won't risk it this time. Take a shower, I will wait for you in the car. You have ten minutes" Sky said.

"Ten minutes? Give m-"

"If you aren't in the car in ten minutes, I will pull you out of the shower myself. Hurry up" Sky replied.

Since Rain didn't want to see his friend angry, not because he cared about him but because he feared that he could really pull him out of the shower naked, they arrived pretty early. The director ran to them and sighed in relief.

"Thank god you're already here. One of the waiters got hospitalized this morning because of a broken leg, he slipped during a wedding... here, this is the menu and this are the wines, study it and get your uniforms in the locker room"

"Sorry sir, which one of us should take his place?" Rain asked confused.

"Both of you. You aren't professional waiters so you will help each other. I will talk to the others to give you only easy tasks impossible to mess up"

"Khun Arm! Here is the list of the guests" the young receptionist told him as she gave him the paper. Arm thanked her and walked away, leaving Sky and Rain alone.

Vegas was still sitting on the bed, he was ready for the event while Pete was standing in front of the mirror with a butler helping him with his suit. Pete asked him a few times if he was bored, but Vegas didn't reply, he was too busy staring at him and biting his lips, probably thinking about how he would get rid of that suit after coming back home.

"Done... what do you think?" Pete said as he turned to Vegas. He stood up and walked to him, Vegas made a rapid movement with his hand to tell the butler to leave them alone. He looked at Pete carefully and sighed, then he opened a little box.

"Don't tell me you don't want to wear the earrings I bought for our anniversary..." Vegas said with a fake sad face. Pete smirked at his partner and leant closer to his neck, then he whispered:

"I was waiting for you to help me with those..."

"Just with the earrings?" Vegas asked.

"Vegas, we don't have time for that, be a polite boy during the event and I promise that you will receive a nice gift when we come back."

While the two lovebirds were busy flirting, Macau and Venice were waiting for them in the living room.

"I really don't know why I agreed... these events are all the same boring stuff..." Macau complained.

"Oh come on uncle, we didn't even get to the hotel and you're already complaining?"

"You cannot blame me, you didn't like this kind of thing when you were younger. Don't pretend that it isn't the truth, Chay told me everything. Don't think that just because I'm abroad most of the time I don't care about what happens in my family" Macau replied.

The happy smile on Venice's face faded immediately as he realized what his uncle was talking about.

"Venice... I'm sorry, I didn't want to offend you, ok?"

"It isn't your fault uncle, it is just that I don't like thinking about that period..." Venice replied, then he looked away as he heard his fathers' footsteps behind him.
