may's pov
we both watched the movie when there was a knock on my door.
i groaned and went to open the door. it was hayes.
"oh hey hayes" i said. his face looks like it was wrapped with guilt.
"i'm so sorry" he said and handed me a letter. i was confused. sorry? for what?
"what do you mean sorry?" i asked as i grabbed the paper from him.
"the letter will explain, and call me of you read the whole letter" and he faked smiled, then he walked away.
"but hayes!" i screamed but he wouldn't listen, he just kept walking. my legs were stiff, it couldn't move. he kept walking, smaller,smaller,smaller then I couldn't see him. I screamed for him but he wouldn't turn around.
I closed my door shut and sank on the couch, Matt was looking at me with curiosity. i gave him a small smile then opened the envelope.
i read the letter.
no.no.no.no.no.no.no.no.no.no.no.no.no.no.
this can't be happening. no. tears were flowing freely down my cheeks. this can't be happening.
"may why are you crying?" and his arms were wrapped on my petite body.
"matt no this can't be happening,matt no" i said sobbing.
"you are not making sense may? what's wro-" but before he can finish, i handed him the letter. he read it then his face turned pale.
~~~
it was 8.30am the next morning and matt and i drove to the hospital.
"hayes g-grier?" I stammered to the nurse working there.
"room 321, the fifth floor" she said and gave me a pity smile.
"thank you" matt said and intertwined our hands and went to the elevator. he pressed floor 5. my eyes were teary. i used sweatpants and a sweatshirt, hair in a messy bun.
tears were flowing down my cheeks. i began to sob. matt engulfed me into a hug and rubbed my back.
"shhh," he said, "don't cry." he sounded he was about to break down.
then we arrived to floor 5.
