Dandelion

You are not a rose
With spiky thorns
And a big prose

You are not a Lily
Fancy, delicate
And frilly

You are not a violet
Strong, stubborn
And silent

No my dear,
You are a dandelion

I see how this may sound,
But trust me it is meant as a praise
You see
Dandelions are beautiful
And can survive long past a few days

Children love dandelions
Though others consider them weeds
Kids often pick dandelions and say
Look! See?
As the garden grows
We grew a flower!
All on our own!

Dandelions are tough
They can grow anywhere
One of the few plants that does not need soil
No need to toil
For days
And be plucked by pretty thorns
No hand being worn
By the ph of the dirt
Nope they just are
They rise on their own
Make any place their home
And own it

In the the change of season
They change completely
In spring a whole new form
Especially when it gets warm
Puffs can be found
And it is said
That there are wishes to be had
Just to spread you around
Just to see you bloom
Just to be you

Some may say you're trivial
Or there is too much to go around
But I say that makes you special
Being so connected with the ground
That you could be found anywhere
In Spain,
In Russia,
Or The UK

You are everywhere
And you are a stunning yellow
With valleys all anew
Until come summer
Their are fields of you
And they are stunning
You could go running
Or just sit
And pick
Make a chain

I wouldn't say it's vain
To want to be a rose
Or a Lily
Or a violet
But who would want that?
When you can bring joy to so many
And survive with so little
And grow so much
So far and so wide

It isn't extravagant
But I would say that being a dandelion
Is quite fine
